Getting the 256MB version of the 8700M GT leaves me with a small gap of dedicated memory. So, I will replace the 2GB 667MHz RAM with some high-speed PC6400 4GB 800MHz RAM to give my 8700M GT an extra "hand of help" with the TurboCache memory sharing and evade the famous problems of Vista "eating" a lot of RAM. Now, I'm really wondering (I dont have the laptop here yet, propably first week of September I'll have it) if I can adjust how much memory I would like the TurboCache allow RAM share with my 8700M GT... Does anybody know?

I believe that with all Geforce 8M cards you can adjust the amount of RAM allocated to help with graphics, don't ask how, but someone else will be able to tell you. If I were you I would not allocate more than 256mb of ram for graphics.

Worthless idea. Don't bother.

it takes however much it needs. The dedicated ram is still much faster than the system ram. the less system ram that needs to get involved, the better. If you had faster ram, it would lessen the performance hit of using system ram when necessary by a marginal amount.
However, you can only use 667mhz memory in your laptop. No laptop motherboard today supports faster than 667mhz. The mobo will clock back 800mhz memory to 667. -

No, not really. It's like using a swap file on a 7200 RPM hdd versus a 10,000 RPM drive. It's still going to be slow as ****, and you'll want to avoid it at all costs. Sure it'll improve things a little, but your card is fine as it is. It's going to have a hard time utlizing more than 256 MB because of the 128 bit bus, but even if it could, 512 is plenty. With 2GB of RAM my 512 8600M shares another 767 MB of RAM. I would prefer it to share none, but as you can see even with *just* 2GB of RAM the video card has more than enough total RAM.
TurboCache memory sharing adjustable?
