    Hi folks.

I have a little notebook ( specs in sig ).
I occasionally play GTA IV which is known to be a CPU hog.

My CPU hits 90C sometimes but in most cases 80's.

I noticed that turning off turbo boost helps alot and also I get the chance to overclock the GPU to get more FPS.

So is it a good idea to turn off the turbo boost ?!

EDIT : One more question , " The solder on the GPU breaks down after a while from the heat and the video card becomes disconnected from the mother board. " Is this true ?

GTA 4 is very CPU demanding and it does take advantage of quad cores.
    But its also horrible optimized.

What is the difference between stock GPU clocks and turbo boost vs overclocked GPU and no turbo boost?

Well GT 525M is not a powerful GPU so overclocking helps ( I think ).
I didn't test it with no turbo boost yet, I'm asking if it's worth it or not.

    Thanks for your help :)

According to this site and the feedbacks
    [x] Good idea
    [ ] Bad idea

But do a before and after mental screenshot of the FPS and performance to valuate if it`s worth the tradeoff ;)

Turn off TB. Run HW Monitor in background. Now game for a few hours. Quit game then log the HW monitor CPU temps. And?

I meant to add that you probally have a single pipe cooler so you have to decide if you want performance or lower Temps. Turning turbo off would not hurt a thing hardware wise if that is what you meant.

that's what i've done with my 13.3" VAIO SA, and it has dropped the gaming temperatures about 6C from 91C to 85C.

There is no change in FPS with Turbo Boost on or off.

When turbo boost is off it shaves off about 6C.

I think I will turn it off as there is no game that benefit from it and my GPU doesn't need that power of CPU.

    Thanks guys :)
