Hellow everybody,
Just bought a laptop with i5 4200m and gtx 765m specs.
I have done a clean Windows 8.1 install.
After installing necessary drivers, i notice that I have no turboboost in the cpu. I'm scoring far lower scores in programs like 3dmark.
I've checked with some programs my highest clocks and they áre never reaching the 3 ghz frequency, staying un 2.5 stocks frecuency even if the CPU charge is 100%.
What can it be?

BIOS update ? CPU state in power management ? (99% instead of 100%)
CPU "drivers" ? -
100% in power management, i haven't updated BIOS yet.
What kind of CPU drivers do you mean? The laptop is a MSI GE60. I have installed all drivers that áre uploaded for my model.
In 3d mark 11 i'm scoring 3300 CPU points while the same configuración should score about 4000, I think it os exactly the difference between 2.5 GHz clock and turboboosted 3.1 GHz.
Thanks for your attention!

go to the bios and try to see if the boost option is enabled

Fixed! I have disabled some option in tje bios that controls CPU steps, now it is working at 3 GHz!
Thanks!

Another question, having a 7200 rpm HDD and 8gb of RAM instead of 5400 rpm HDD and 4gb of RAM, push up 3dmark11 benchmark? I mean, the rest specs áre the same.

Unless you are running single channel now ram and had have no impact on fps.

For example, will I score something else in 3dmark11?
These doubts are in order to clarify the higher scores of another gtx 765m por another i5 4200m than mine's.
Thanks!

You will see improved scores with 3dMark11 but that's it. Performance in real games will not. 3DMark11 is a benchmark and it has an algorithm to determine which computers are "better". A computer with 8gb of ram is better than the same computer with 6 or 4gb of ram because it has more ram, however, if a game only needed 2gb of ram, there won't be a difference in performance between having 4gb of ram and 32gb of ram. Now with that said, I would still recommend upgrading to 8gb of ram. A 7200RPM hard disk would improve loading times too but also uses more battery life. And even with these upgrades, you will not see any noticeable improvement when playing games.
Also, go back into your bios and turn everything back on. I'm guessing you disabled intel speed step. It's meant for power savings and can extend the life of your cpu. Instead, try using Throttlestop Download ThrottleStop 6.00 | techPowerUp to force turbo.tiner likes this. -
Yeah, i disabled Intel speed step, the only way I found for running turbo..
