I've been playing Two Worlds a tad over the past couple days, so I thought I would post a few screenshots and a quick overview (not an in depth review) so people would know what it is they're buying this week when they rush down to GameStop.
All pictures are at max resolution and running 1.4 update (the latest they offer). This is all ran on my Inspiron 1520, with specs in my sig. System has the latest updates, laptopvideo2go.com drivers 163.14 with modded .inf, Windows XP SP2. I detected no slowdowns whatsoever while playing, even with combat of 7 people on the screen with dust being kicked in my eyes and me casting spells, there was no detectable lag. I didnt install FRAPS to catch the frame rate and I dont have any plans to.
I would highly recommend using your two free weapons upgrades you get with purchase (they come as two codes you use in the game), I chose the armor and the sword. It feels like you're entering a cheat code, but since it is included in the game, I dont personally feel like it's cheating. And beginning the game with the crap sword they give you and the light armor, a pack of 3 goblins or a few silver wolves will make easy prey of you in no time.
Graphically, the game is not Oblivion, just throwing that out there.
With that said, onto the screen shots.
My settings.

The magic system is pretty cool, there are tons of upgrades and different cards you can pick up throughout the game to advance your skills beyond the normal levelling up.
This picture is of the magic cards, you can see I dont have very many yet...![]()

And this is of the level up page. Pretty good options to level here.

Here is a picture of riding the horse. Although they tout this is a good addition to their game that others of the genre haven't put much effort into integrating, especially mounted combat, it sucks. It is very hard to control the horse. In Oblivion, when you stop commanding the horse, it stops running. Here, the horse will keep running, and you have to repeatedly tell it to stop before it stops running. It is neat that you can fight off the horse though, but again, the poor horse control makes it actually more difficult than fighting on your own two feet.

Here is an archery shot. To aim, you move your bullseye over the enemy, and it turns yellow or green depending on how close you are to hitting them, then LOOSE! And he's dead...

A general shot of the valley.

This one is of your inventory, with the alchemy pot on the side. Just drag your ingredient to the little slots above the pot and mix, and see what you come up with, pretty fun, similary to Oblivion but you dont need to carry any more apparatus' around, the pot is built-in. The inventory system allows you to add items together to power them up, say, combine two swords together to get a slight addition to its overall damage.

Menu screen.

Just a shot of the loading page.

Combat. They were kicking dust in my eyes (which acts as a very basic "spell" and slows you down -1 attack or something like that, cant quite remember) as I destroy their friend.

Overall the game has been decent so far, although I've only played for 30 minutes. The graphics do not put too much strain on your system if you have mid-range new hardware like mine. Again, it is not as pretty as Oblivion, but oh well. The voiceovers are cheesy, but you can get past that, I have.
Thats all I can think of at the moment, if you have any additional questions or want to see a different screen shot or aspect of the game, let me know.

Just found a new environment, fog:

Just added: rain:

I did my best to capture the lightening, but it was difficult considering how spontaneous and short the bursts of it are. The rainstorms are very cool, all the trees and grass sway in the wind, the clouds move across the sky like they would in reality, and wind blows the mist. Its very cool.
I would like to add that all of these environmental variables do not make any discernable hit on graphics performance, I must say, it seems like these guys got it right in coding the graphics for this game, because they look good (as you can see from the screen shots) and I have it maxed out (minus AA at max, I'll try that next I guess) on mid-range Gfx card.
This guy was a fun fight, a Cyclops. Note, just after I hit him in this screen shot with my nice sword, he killed me in one hit.

I will be adding screen shots and reviews of the various aspects of the game as I play more of it tonight, so hold tight.
Added:
Ok, this is the game completely maxed out, by a bright and shiny magic source and waving trees to really put the stress on, and, not a single hint of graphics slowdown. I also enabled something called depth of field, which you can see active in the game now. Notice the tree nearest me on my left is sharp as normal, as well as the magic shrine to my right. Now notice everything in the background is starting to slowly blur as you go past the tree, out to the furthest trees which are completely blurred, kinda neat.

Cool, looks fun!
I want it.
I wont use the code because you either rough it in the game or you dont do it at all -
Very Oblivionish. How does it compare?
-
They're actually two very different games. Menus are completely different, magic systems are different, just everything is different.
I am used to Oblivion and Morrowind style, so I am still getting used to it. It is different, but it is also fun and the more you play it the better it gets.
Cant comment on the online integration, considering it hasnt been released in the States yet, so that will have to wait until Monday when everyone gets it installed and online. -

I think those graphics are pretty darn good, pretty dang close to oblivion, wondering if my computer can run it better than oblivion. The last screenshot looks quite nice.
-
By the way, I figured I would mention that the North American/UK version is going to be 1.5, I believe it is 800mb or something patch. I don't know that for a fact but it's what I hear. Supposed to make teh game run smoother and change how some of it works or some such.
The 1.4 patch is a little iffy still if you ask me, not the most enjoyable experience, at least for me. -
You are correct, here is a quick overview of it for everyone's enjoyment.

I will install it when it becomes available and provide updates if they are warranted. -
For lovers of Morrowind and Oblivion. Do you think it's work the buy? Also, I've heard alot of claims about how "awsome" and "inovative" the combat system is. Is there anything new in the combat system? I know you can fight on a horse but is that all?
-
If you liked TES series games, you would most likely enjoy this as well. I dont think the combat system is "innovative" but it is good and I enjoy the fighting in it. Swordfighting is pretty similar to Oblivion, arrow shooting is a tad different.
You can use your right mouse button to fire your selected spell. You do not get to select when to put your shield up like in Oblivion, instead, in your skills upgrades, you upgrade your "chance" to block with your shield or parry with your equipped weapon, so that part is more like Morrowind, but its not that bad really.
Basically for contols during a swordfight, you use WASD keys to move your character around, and your mouse will move the camera angle around so you can move between enemies quickly, and then you attack them with your left mouse button. It is not turn based, so if you lay down a lot of attacks, you can prevent the enemy from attacking you if you're quick and he's weak. -
Awsome. I'll have to buy it after I get finished with Bioshock then.
Thanks. -

i personally think this thread should live. And, i will get that game and play it and tell you how it is
-
I've logged a few more hours into this game, and it just keeps getting better. It doesnt seem as though enemies respawn however, so I guess once you kill a camp of bandits, they dont come back, this could very likely limit how many hours you can put into this game.
We'll see if patch 1.5 corrects this, as respawning enemies is something I really like about an open ended RPG. -
Last pic looks amazizizing in my opinion. I wish baddies respawned though, how big is the map? Hows the story-line?
-
Actually it's only kind of opened ended, as of the 1.4 patch. When you finish the story, you are pretty much done, you can't go back and do anything, game over, finite.
Maybe 1.5 changes that. -
I didn't like it at all. I ran it at max plus 8xAF in the drivers on my go7700. I had a screenie thread a few weeks back (before US release).
-

oh yeah, i remember you were saying you didnt like it, i was wonder who posted that other one, maybe try the us release
-
meh, i was so hopefull. I wanted it to be good. And I was very dissapointed.

thank you, maybe another chance?? I tried stronghold 2 and hated it and played it again and loved it.
-
Nah. I need to aquire it again. And I don't wanna waste money on it, or aquire it by other means, best not-mentioned here.
-
Did you find the mounted combat to be very realistic? IMO the best mounted game by far is Mount&Blade, though it's still in beta.
-
I didnt like it the first time around either. Then I reinstalled it after redoing my hard drive with XP and played into it a little bit more and decided it was worth playing.
After playing on PC however, I dont see how they are going to get it going on the 360, the game seems designed very in favor of PC mouse/keyboard users, hopefully they optimize the menus for the 360 during the port. -
There are teleports around the map (no fast travel) that allow you to get around without resorting to a horse. -
And the bottom:
Its really not that big, nothing compared to the size of Oblivion, especially with all the expansions. Also, whereas Oblivion had a cool duneon, Ayleid ruin, cave, or mine like every 150 feet or so, this does not have that. Caves and such are kinda few and far between.
And here is a pic of me swimming with sunlight and a teleport in the island with all settings maxed out.
Story line is so so, again, compared to Oblivion, its not as good, but then again Bethesda has a decade of experience in developing the TES story line, and these guys are new to the game.
I'm sure you'll notice I'm making all comparisons against Oblivion, but since that seems to be this games main competitor, I figured that was most appropriate.Last edited by a moderator: Feb 6, 2015 -
Looked like that for me as well.

did you activate the ability to cast necromancy?
i think you fight some weird stuff if you do -
How do I do that?
-
Crimsonman Ex NBR member
no idea, i just read that you can activate it. its some quest, and then it activates, then you have to face zombies and stuff
-
fabarati = negative nancy
I wanted to wait for this but it kept getting delayed =/ , bought titan quest instead. I'll probably give this or hellgate:london a try around christmas. -
Hey, it's not my fault I've got standards. Blame my parents. And don't call me nancy. I prefer natalie
.
-
Looking forward to Hellgate London, but this and Bioshock will have to hold me over until then... along with classes.
