Hi all.... I'm looking for a decent single player RPG right now and I need some opinions about these two games. Dont know which one should I get.

-
I have played 2worlds and it gets very boring after level 9.Dialogue is horrible, quests are easy. I have not played The Witcher so I'm not really sure if it's good. But I do recommend Oblivion probably the best rpg out there.
-
I know both games have non-linear gameplay but just cant decided on which one...
Thanks for the info -
I hated oblivion because of the gameplay, Fighting is horrible compared to other action rpg's like like Dark Magic of Might and Messiah (excellent fightning system)
-
Two Worlds got pitiful reviews (5/10)
The Witcher got favorable reviews (8/10)
Hope this helps. -
User Reviews:
Witcher: Metacritic - 9.5, GameRankings - 9.1, IGN - 9.3, Gamespot - 8.8, GameStats - 8.9
Worlds: Metacritic - 6.9, GameRankings - 8.5, IGN - 7.3, Gamespot - 6.9, GameStats - 7.1 -
Witcher is similar to Oblivion because it has some open-ended freedom to wander about (though not to Oblivion extent).
Combat system is different though since the timing of the clicks for each animation is pre-defined. Like link1313 said the Witcher has been well-received and has won RPG of the year awards from some online reviewers like IGN and Gamespy. -
having played both of them the witcher is the better of the two games by a fair bit.
-
i just got the witcher last night and began playing it... i must say the graphics are pretty excellent and don't have TOO steep system requirements to run smoothly. however, i really dislike the character movement throughout maps. even with camera sensitivity at max, it seems really sluggish and inaccurate when i try to walk from place to place. as for the battle system, i somehow prefer traditional hack-and-slash like in oblivion. in the witcher it seems like you're not really controlling your attacks, you're just timing a few mouse clicks. also, every time you enter a new map it takes almost a full minute to load, which translates into roughly 10% of your game time....really annoying.

i own the witcher and can say it is very fun

I played Two worlds for 20min and could not believe what a pile of $&*@ this game is, I uninstalled it, what a ripoff!!! Gamespot gave it a 4.0 out of 10, I'd say a 0.5. The Witcher is a great game, get the patch though.
-
how is the story for witcher? i played only abit of it to show that i like it, but not enough to judge the story.
-
Supposedly the story is great. It's based off best-selling polish fantasy novels, apparently.
-
Hows the replay value of The Witcher ? Can you do anything after you beat the main quest ?
-
I don't have 'The Witcher', but I do have Oblivion and Two Worlds. Graphically, Oblivion and Two Worlds are at par. But when you take everything else into account, Two Worlds is just plain boring. The spells and skills in Two Worlds are more are plentiful but story, gameplay, dialog (ugh!), difficulty, everything else is worse than Oblivion. There are also less quests to do in Two Worlds, but still, they're nothing short of numerous. It gets really boring when you reach level 35 or so because by that time you'd have enough mana to maintain some defensive skills that will render you nearly invulnerable. =/

THE WITCHER! Im going to get it soon, couple of days maybe, so can give U some screenshots if You want.
The story is quite free and all decisions U make have influence later during the game - TESTEDmy friends, brothers in fact, have played and tried to make different decions each time and they say there was a HUGE difference
Cant wait to play it now! -
ok as i'm polish it's quite obvious who's the winner here
at least for me. i'm a great fan of the spakowski's works (read'em all). the game itself is even better
first of all - the decisions aren't that obvious - it's not what kotor showed, neither the neverwinters' decision trees' branching. you really need to get in the game to feel this.
secondly - steering is great - i really prefer it to oblivion's. yes, dmomm is better here, but it's more of a fps shooter than a rpg game
third - the characters... and the setting. no fairy tell everything's good and beautiful world... it's cruel, dark, full of real npcs... it's really eventful and "real"
fourth reason? it's polish!
fifth? most other games are set in a big world of certain well known ideas where we can easily decide who's who and who's the bad and who's the good. not in witcher!
got any Qs? shoot, i might be able to help -
Hej
Its obvious that playing in English wont give You the same feeling as in Polish since the studio cooperated with the book's Author to get the same kind of feeling yet I know that its still very very good. -
actually as i reviewed the game for both a polish zin and for an english one and i therefore had a contact with both versions i can second that
even english one is great
but the polish one is even better - quite a good reason to stat learning polish, isn't it? -
Is the English voice acting in The Witcher good? If it's anything like Two Worlds, I might pass. There are just so many good games out right now! I'm still choosing between The Witcher, Kane and Lynch: Dead Men, The Orange Box, and a few others.
-
Orange Box is a bargain for the money. I was finally able to play HL2
actually just completed it today
At first I felt like starting really slow, but after 4th level it was like a roller-coaster fun
-
is the voice acting good? IMHO it is better than good, at least comparing to other crpgs out there... so do not worry - check the game yourself... ah and don't think that's gonna be super-duper-goody-hero-to-save-the-world-even-his-enemies-like title...
i'd also recommend playing DMoMM (for the sake of playing best physics in rpg-like game) and H:BM (i just love each edition, but the 4th is really good for the new ones and the old fans).
orange box is good only because there are so many titles in it...
kane'n'lynch seem to me to be quite not that good as most of the eidos released titles... -
Thanks all for the info. But I heard that in The Witcher...the game forces you to move on the main quest or you will be locked in one area forever ? So you cant do any complete free roaming like Oblivion ?
-
Two Worlds is an awful Oblivion knock-off. The only entertaining part of it is when your character goes around asking people for information about "The Taint". I lol'd.
The Witcher is amazing, you'll love it. Its true that its not nearly as open-ended as Oblivion, but you still have a staggering amount of freedom when it comes to quests / story. In fact, I'd say that you have more control over the direction of the story than you do in Oblivion.
I'd definitely recommend you download 1eyedking's subtitle fix for The Witcher though, if you buy it. The official dialogue is pretty poorly translated. -
Thanks for the info Pandariffic ! Very helpful
-
No problem, I hope you enjoy it. I'm roughly halfway through and the story really picks up. Pity 'bout that translation though.. =S
