Hi guys. My brother is soon to buy a laptop from bestbuy and he was asking me if these two laptops have the same video card or not. Gateway said that it has 256mb dedicated memory and the hp one said it features up to 1917MB. Is it the same card? or the gateway is better because of its 256mb dedicated memory? I really dont know anything about integrated gpu thats why I need help. LOL. Thanks. You guys will really help my bro decide.
Here are the BB links.

Yea I think the one on the Gateway is better because I read somewhere that manufacturers can add memory to the 4250 giving it dedicated memory. And also based on benchmarks, the gateway's AMD Phenom II N830 Triple-Core is better than the AMD Turion II P560 Dual-Core.
Gateway: PassMark - AMD Phenom II N830 Triple-Core - Price performance comparison
HP: PassMark - AMD Turion II P560 Dual-Core - Price performance comparison -
The HP notebook probably got the same dedicated memory, but they advertise with the maximum memory the GPU can "steal" from the system ram.
So heres the deal: Does your brother want a slightly slower 14" HP or the faster 15" Gateway?
The bottom line is that ATI Mobility Radeon 4250 is a slow card, it will probably be able to launch games and decode HD video with DXVA but thats it. -
Found this at bestbuy this morning. I think this is the best one for him. Lenovo - IdeaPad Laptop / AMD Phenomâ„¢ II Processor / 15.6" Display / 3GB Memory / 320GB Hard Drive - Black - Z565-43113LU
CPU: AMD Phenom II N660
GPU: ATI 4270
This laptop is better than the gateway in terms of cpu and gpu and its $50 cheaper!
Two kinds of Ati radeon 4250?
