1UP did its own article as well. http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3169455

I am VERY excited, especially with the information on the non-linear yet still story driven campaign. Choose your own adventure comes to RTS! WOO!

It looks great, but they may want to nail down the color gamut a little better, I was a little confused with the color scheme, though that may have just been custom coloring on the units and structures.

I think they said it at 1UP, "Nothing better than seeing a robot tank punch a giant alien."

    I'm so happy :D :D :D

It killed my inner child to see the dark eldar in the last expansion but not the nids.

I'm so conflicted, I don't like playing two rts's at a time, but coh vs dow is a tough choice. I guess it comes down to military vs sci-fi.

Also, EA's Red Alert 3 is the same old, same old. -Relic makes the best rts games, hands down, not sure why they don't get C&C type respect these days.

I absolutely hate what they're doing with this game. They are going to make it JUST like world in conflict. Now, that's fun and all, but makes each and every mission feel forced, and linear. It seems to me that taking out the building/resorce finding/managing multiple things at once thing takes out everything from the RTS. WIC was cool, but I got bored with it, the whole game was like a point and click, you already knew you were going to win because they give you the perfect amount of units right at the start. This is exactly like what this game is going to be. Think, Dawn of war , the first one, only take out ALL of the building elements, and resources, and make every round start with a set number of units.

That's what I think made starcraft so increadible.. it was an RTS based on advancement, build this building, to unlock the ability to build this building/unit and so on, if the enemy destroyed one building, it would cut off supply of the next ones and so on. This new one is all unit vs unit, no more bases, no more attacking while defending your base.. They've dumbed down the game so that there's no thinking involved, just click and watch your tiny guys destroy the other ones in an unfair fight where you always win.

Loved all of the DoW games.
Has anyone tried the Tyranids mod, when I tried it it was half done so the workers looked like the SM skull probes :)
And the Daemon Hunters mod, that was a good attempt.
Soulstorm just works on my nb (min@1280x800/1440x900), something tells me it just wont cut it for DoWII :(

Awww. Now that i've read the article i'm kinda saddened and even happier at the same time.

The new graphics looks amazing and i'm glad they updated them... but i'm going to miss the RTS of buildings and stuff i think. But maybe the pre game build session will allow you enough customization to do what you want. Though i guess gone is the days of an army of Fireprisms and fire dragons :(

The biggest disappointment is the fact that the freaking game is following GW's path of making EVERYTHING about the bloody space marines. I mean i know thats the big selling point, but at least the previous games threw in a few mission from the other armies so you could enjoy them as well. So i'm disliking the fact that they are canning the idea of making the game playable as any of the races. (you would hope they could have done that)

But at least we have hope for other expansions because there are alot of races left to renew, so hopefully some of those expansions allow for diffrent storeyline playable races

From what I understood, you will be able to personalize and equip your troops before going into the mission. This brings the computer game closer to the tabletop game, and make the campaign more credible and coese. After playing DOW and every launched expansion, I got tired from the building/resource finding model, and it was always the thing that separated the game from the GW universe. For me it will be a refreshing change of focus.

Only bad side will be the loss of other races campaigns, like in Dark Crusade, at least until new expansions arrive. But as a Space Marine (Deathwing) player with more than a decade of the tabletop game under my belt, it will come at exactly what I wanted.

If the campaign is as deep as they say it is, I would be happy with one myself.

Yeah i dont think the game model is going to take much away from teh game itself, especially sine you still have to do resource management in the multiplayer and skirmish versions of the game. I think its going to be very intresting to see how they have revitalized DoW...still wish it was less about the mon-keigh though :p

And yeah i guess according to the deathwing fluff, you will love to get a chance to kill as many nids as you can huh (eldar player since Dark Millenium)

I'm just hoping there are ALOT of new units as well to finish flushing out the armies in multiplayer. They almost had all the required units after the last Dawn of War expansions...just a few more abd you can basically make any army you have on the table top on the game itself

that's why they make skirmish mode in every RTS game.. the game becomes more action-packed and fast-paced when you're given a set of units, buildings and abilities at the outset of the game but most importantly adds variety!, that's exactly what i felt while playing recent RTS games like CoH, C&C3 and WiC. whenever you feel forced and restrained by the story mode you can jump out and play skirmish and build your army in whatever way you like..
