Well its not venting lava or anything, its barable but uncomfortable to hold my hand close to the grill. :p

I dont plan on cooking this thing too drasticly, but I just want a tiny lil bump in my games, as most of em are really close to going up a notch in detail. (And somehow I still hope to run GTA4 on low )

Whats the best way to monitor the limits of my 9200m GS?

Only if you make it run on Radeon drivers, I saw a review were the V5700 only scored 2150 in 3dmark06 (1280x1024). On Radeon drivers you probably get around 3800 (1280x1024).

On radeon/geforce drivers it doesn't make any difference and business laptops are generally higher build quality.

FX770 is much faster, up to around 5300 3d marks (1280x1024), some overclockers on this forum could outperform a 9700m GT.

V5700 is very good in solidworks, on stock drivers faster then FX770.

hmm not sure, I saw a couple reviews where the V5700 score about 4.8k on 3dmarks06, while 5kish on the FX770. I would assume they would be using the same resolutions

    2.1k seems really low

1280x1024 is standard, but 1280x800 is also very popular because it gives higher scores and is a more suitable resolution for notebooks. 4800 seems to me the 1280x800 score for 3650 (not sure). The FX770 can score up to 6000 in 1280x800, that's what I know for sure.

I guess driver issues or a wrongly placed 1680x1050 score.

GTAIV Is a no go, you'll have to accept that just like myself

Overclocking generally takes awhile, you can't just set it to whatever and go, go, go. Heres what you do (Note: I take no responsibility):

    1. Download 3Dmark06 (demo is free and its all you need), HWmonitor (Google it) and nTune (Google again :)). Install em all and restart.

    2. Open up HWM and 3Dm06 and run 3Dm06 to get your preliminary results and max temp, note them down on a piece of paper.

    3. Now open nTune (found in nVidia control panel) and overclock the Core bus by 50MHz. Now run 3Dmark06 and note down the new score and temps.

    4. Repeat step #3 but only increase by 10-20MHz each go, continue this until you see minor artifacting (general glitchyness) in 3Dm06 and then nudge the Core bus down by 10MHz.

    5. Now repeat step #3 but for the Memory bus, after the first 50MHz go down to 10-20MHz, keep increasing till it begins to glitch then go down 10MHz. Note down your final score, compare, be happy :)

Hi everyone, I've seen this graphics card in an Acer Aspire 5535 laptop and I was wondering what performance I could expect from it.

    Here's the laptop specification...

    Acer Aspire AS5535-704G32Mn___________£429.99___________$591.89

    Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium , AMD® Turion™ x2 Dual Core RM-70 (2.0GHz, 2 x 512 KB L2 Cache), 15.6" WXGA Acer CrystalBrite™ TFT LCD, 2*2GB RAM, 320GB 5400rpm Hard Disk Drive, 8X DVD-Super Multi double-layer drive, ATI Radeon™ HD 3200 Graphics, Acer InviLink™ 802.11b/g/Draft-N Wi-Fi CERTIFIED® solution, 6 cell Li-ion Battery, 5 in 1 card reader (SD), (MMC), (MS), (MS PRO), (XD), 0.3 MP Crystal Eye Webcam ( LX.AUA0X.051 )

And here's the graphics description from Acer...

"ATI Radeon™ HD 3200 Graphics with up to 2048 MB of HyperMemory™ (256 MB of dedicated system memory, up to 1792 MB of shared system memory*), supporting Unified Video Decoder (UVD), OpenEXR High Dynamic-Range (HDR) technology, Shader Model 4.0, Microsoft® DirectX® 10.0
(* depending on size of system memory)"

How good (or bad) would this be?

    Thanks =)

Howfar should I be concerned about the apparently reducing lifespan of my chip though?
Is it as bad as some say it is?

So I am looking into a new laptop and I need to know which of these graphics card would be better to run Oblivion... either the NVIDIA GeForce 9200M GS or a ATI Radeon 3200. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you

you can probably play Oblivion at low settings with a integrated Nvidia and ATI card.

I think the ATI 3200 is better since it performs near that of a dedicated low-end card like the Nvida 8400M

Anyone got any reviews/benchmarks on the Intel 4500HD. I got one in my laptop and I really have no idea what it can do (probobly nothing) and what it compares to.

You can take a look at this to give you a rough idea: Mobile Graphics Cards Benchmarks

But yeah, do not expect to do much gaming with Intel integrated graphics.

How old is my graphics card? NVIDIA GeForce4 MX440 This was the first and only computer we have ever had, i don't remember how long we have had it but i know it is really old.
So what games can i play? I went to "Can You Run It?" and the only games that showed i could play was Maple Story, Far Cry, and Unreal Tournament 2003. Are there any others?

Just ouf of curiosity, what's the most powerful card from both companies that I'll be able to see offered for a 15.4" Laptop? The fastest ones I've noticed so far are the ATI 3650 and the nVidia 8600. Is there anything faster out there?

Is there a big difference between 9800m gs, and the 9800gt?

I have the 9800gt, which I thought was the fastest for 15.4, maybe I am wrong.

I was wondering if there is a big difference between a DDR2 memory and a DDR3 memory. I'm talking about like computer rams not video ram.

Also gateway 7805u vs msi GT725-074US?

nope. the difference is negligible, some say inexistant. an example:

    Alienware m15x w/ Santa Rosa, 2.5Ghz, 4Gb DDR2 667mhz RAM, 8800m-gtx -> 9.5-10k in 3dmark06.
    Clevo m860tu w/ Montevina, 2.53Ghz, 4Gb DDR3 1066mhz RAM, 9800m-gt -> 9.5-10k in 3dmark06.

    Hi guys!
Why does my nvidia 8400m GT 128mb Gddr3 perform worse than my nvidia 9200gs 256mb GDDR3?
    Shouldn't the 9200 be worse?
I get about 1650 points with the 8400 GT and nearly 2100 with the 9200 gs.
    The two systems are similar.

There are differences. In mem intensive apps, such as Photoshop, you'll see a big difference, especially if working with HDR layered images.

In gaming, you won't see a difference UNLESS you get low latency DDR3, such as the Kingston HyperX DDR3 1066MHz CAS5 (CL5-5-5-15)

    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=22273&hl=hyperX

It will depend on the particular game whether you'll see a difference. Some games like GTA IV Crysis will see a slight difference.

    DDR3 also consumes less power.

EDIT: Just realized were talking GPU memory here, so what I just said isn't as accurate as it could be.

In theory that is correct, but in reality, the performance and power saving benefits are negligible. You would be hard pressed to notice a difference at all, except in benchmarks. Even then, it is not worth the money.

X4500 is desktop so that's out of the way

GM45/GS45/GL40 all feature GMA 4500MHD. Unlike desktops, all of them can support HD video acceleration.

    IGP features:
    GM45-533MHz core
GS45-Low power, 320MHz 3D core, and 533MHz video core on-demand to save power. 533MHz video and 3D with high performance mode
    GL40-400MHz core

GL40 has no power saving features other than the most basic ones.

    I have a GT627. P8600, 9800m GS/1gig, 4gb ram.

3dmark06 is 8595 in turbo mode (cpu oc'd to 2.77ghz).

I don't play demanding pc games. But Titan Quest plays in 1920x1200 at max settings perfectly. This is with shipped drivers. Nvidia just released beta drivers which I have not yet installed.

Here's some games that I've tested on my G50VT-X1 (9800M GS coupled with P8400 2.26GHz CPU):

FEAR Perseus Mandate 1366x768 (High Settings) 146FPS

    Crysis 1366x768 (High Settings/DX10) 30FPS

    Fallout 3 1366x768 (High Settings) 59FPS

Mass Effect 1366x768 (Ultra High Settings) 53FPS

    Legendary 1366x768 (High Settings) 68FPS

    Quantum of Solace 1366x768 (High Settings/4xAA) 28FPS

    Gears of War 1366x768 (High Settings/DX10) 54FPS

Toca Race Driver 3 1366x768 (High Settings) 252FPS

    Half-Life 2 1366x768 (High Settings) 160FPS

Burnout Paradise 1366x768 (High Settings) 52FPS

FEAR 2 Project Origin Demo 1366x768 (High Settings) 35FPS

    X Blades 1366x768 (High Settings) 105FPS

Note that X Blades was tested after I flashed the vBIOS to bring the GS up to GTS voltage and speed, so that's essentially a test of a 9800M GTS. The GTS runs a bit hot in a 15" notebook (86C at full load), but I think a good aftermarket thermal compound will bring that down to a much more comfortable level.

dont worry about this the gs can basically play any game the other ones can except for the first crysis becuase of its poor optimization
I have a gs and look in my sig at the games i play. With the exception of Fallout 3(I play on ultra high settings which is kinda really detailed and not worth it) all my games play AT LEAST 60+ fps. I mostly et really high fps.

i do have a 2.7 ghz though after i use turbo button on asus g50vt a1
also i use 1680x1050 resolution on all my games

    I get around 11000 in 3dmark 05 and 8000 in 3dmark 06 with my 9800m gs @ stock clocks.

I play all my games at 1680*1050 with everything max using the on board OC to 2.8ghz on my proc and I have not had a single problem with frame rate. Also I would like to note the DOX drivers really pulled up my min FPS in a few games.

Yep, all of the 9800s are quite capable of running anything out there for the next couple years.

I was wondering what the difference is between these two mobile GPU's is it just a higher clock speed in the 3670. I.E. If a mobility 3650 is overclocked to the clock speed of a mobility 3670 will they both have he same performance??
