    Hello guys,

Been reading this forum for a couple months, daily, if not multiple times a day. I just recently purchased a notebook so now i can finaly join in on the discussions! But, now seem to have a problem with Unreal tournament 3 Beta Demo.

As the thread says my CPU gets put to almost 100% load when playing the game at the following settings:

    Res : 1600x 900
Both graphical sliders set on 2 (havnt tried higher)
Post proccesing at Muted. I know this is a proccesor hog so a set it to muted and still it takes up quite alot.

    System:
    Sony Vaio FW ZU
HiColor double lamp screen 1600x900 resolution
    T9400 CPU
    HD 3650 256MB DDR3 + expendable memory
    4Gig of ram
    4200RPM HDD
    Vista Ultimate 32bit

Rest of the specs shouldnt affect the CPU utilization.
Also note when not doing anything with the notebook the CPU doesnt use more than 8% on average so no bloatware running in the back.
FPS is good. I havnt checked it yet but i got no lags whatsoever so its above 25 -30 for sure.

Is this a known effect? or isnt this normal?

    Thanks in advance

its supposed to put your CPU to 100% load.... because its fully multi-threaded. :)

Only a few games are as optimized as UT3 to fully utilize all multi-cores and videocard capabilities.

Too bad Crysis does not use 100% of the CPU or GPU, it would make the Framerate much better. ;)

Yes altough you have a verry good point there I would never have expected a T9400 to "bottleneck" the HD 3650. tought it would be Vise versa.

I have to admit. Darn! that game looks good and runs perfect, even on the high resolution.

If I am not mistaken, I thought the new UT3 Demo is to be used with the newly released PhysX driver from Nvidia, which is one of the possible reasons why it is using more CPU than normal..

Just in case here's the other thread on the topic:

As more games come out, you will notice that they will be optimized with multi-threaded (using 100% of your CPU for physics, textures, etc).... that just show how great a nice looking game can be and also be play well on even low-mid range gaming rigs.

... shame on Crysis for have poor coding and not optimizing their game.

I like Crysis, I beta'ed Crysis.... but they [the developers] did not care about the coding over the eye-candy being as good as it was hyped... as well as EA hassling them to release it quicker... which made a game that looked really nice, but played poorly on even the most highest end systems... do to the poor and unoptimized coding.

Great innovation, good game, bad performance.

Epic, on the other hand, listened to their UT3 beta testers and made sure to optimized the game to run the even the lowest end of current systems, which made that beta testing a pleasure.

Too bad they left out AA and texture popup realy annoyes me.

The crysis beta was just bad in general. Poor performance, and also showed the weakest part of the game, multiplayer.
Not that my main rig cant handle crysis tough :)

Anyways, thanks for the clarification guys.
