I don't think you should support this type of DRM by even considering the purchase of an UbiSoft game until they remove it.

Just don't buy the game. Why support this? Buying this tells them that consumers are ok with being abused for purchasing their product and that we like it.

There are better games out there that aren't made by Ubisoft. TBH Ubisoft is my least favorite which is why to date I haven't played any of their crappy games. Absolutely no interest in their console games for PC. If you want to play Ubisoft, just buy a console. The games run and perform better on consoles, especially the controls and often released on consoles first. Ubisoft is the epitome of what it means to make horrible console ports.

Care to mention any crappy port from Ubi in specific?

Also, the OP didn't mention which game... :p

ALL Ubisoft console ports are crappy. Do I really need to name every single one? AC2 and SC: Conviction are the latest two. AC1 was even worse than the 2nd. All are DX9 games that are horribly optimized and the controls aren't even very good for PC. Recommended you buy a 360 controller, but at that point, just buy a 360...

Speak with your wallet as others have said. Stop supporting developers who punish you for buying their game and for releasing terrible console ports.

That's... odd. I played AC1 with an 8600m GT and I felt the port was excellent. The controls are not the best for kb + mouse (since they were designed for consoles...) but by no means it was too difficult to get used to them.

I dont see this DRM lasting very long. Dont you remember what happened with the Starforce DRM? Its not used anymore because of this kind of backlash the customers had towards it.The scene even released their starforce cracking app because it wasnt used anymore. Its only a matter of time IMO.

I am voting with my wallet, also hoping whoever thought this was a good idea has a terrible accident and made completely sterile.

To answer the OP's question all you need to do is read the requirements. Here they are from Steam.

"A PERMANENT HIGH SPEED INTERNET CONNECTION AND CREATION OF A UBISOFT ACCOUNT ARE REQUIRED TO PLAY THIS VIDEO GAME AT ALL TIMES"

Anything else and you are asking for trouble. And to be honest... OP you should be one of the people outraged and defiant about such DRM. With a dial up connection, buying a Ubi game with this DRM is like throwing money away imo.
