Ubisoft DRM Scheme Over?
Can this be true? Perhaps all of the PC gamer embargos have worked?
I might have to start supporting Ubisoft for good behavior.

Once the game is released, the picture will be much clearer.
I personally hope an active internet connection only on install is required, Heroes VI is being published by Ubisoft and it would be a chore having to keep playing the game with the old DRM scheme in place. -
I was really excited about AC2 but resisted the temptation to purchase the game because of their rubbish DRM. I know many crumbled and still made a purchase. It could be that the sacrifice that some made has finally paid off. After all, the only way to vote against the greedy is with your wallet!

I think that they just realized that the money they were spending to maintain the DRM outweighed the amount lost due to piracy.

Buh Bye bunk DRM protection which only fuels pirates to target your software more than usual.
Just my .02 -
All I know is that Steam is having a weekend sale of 81% off some pack of Ubisoft games, and I'm not getting them because of their DRM. Even if they've fixed it or it doesn't apply to those games, it's the principle.
-
It seems that the DRM's been removed or something ._. I no longer see the notice on the steam page that mentions that it requires constant internet connection. It used to be there ._.
-
Same here .. tempted by Call of Juarez but like you said , it's the principle. They ain't getting my money .. too late for that.
-
I never cared about the Assassins Creed series, so boycotting that shizzle was not a hard decision.
-
If it's truly gone I may have to buy Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific now. It doesn't show the "persistent online connection required" either. However Splinter Cell Conviction and Assassin's Creed do. Hmmm.

I'm inclined to agree, but if the DRM was removed, maybe it would be a sign to them if it suddenly sold more when the DRM was gone? I still don't want to give them any of my money after all the crap they've pulled, however,...Remember, they're whole world revolves around the idea that DRM is preventing them from losing money (any corporation revolves completely around the idea of money, money, and more money at the expense of anything and everything else). If there is proof they can make more money without it, then maybe they'll change their minds.
I know, not going to happen, but one can hope. -
Ac2 still has the drm, they havent changed their ways
-
Having to have an active internet connection to play is still a form of DRM, which is a form of control over you. I wont have anything to do with it personally.

I'm more inclined to the theory of the high maintenance costs of 24/7 dedicated servers for games that do not pay periodically a fee (namely MMOs) with respect to other 'traditional' less draconian schemes.
