    SOLUTION POST

I've been researching, doing tests, using different settings, and my god, I am absolutely unable to get G-sync working for windowed mode. SPECIFICALLY windowed mode. I only play in windowed mode and refuse to play in full screen due to how limited I am at multitasking while in full screen. I like to tab out often.

I've used 353.62 and 353.3. Most obviously I've enabled G-sync to activate in full screen as well as windowed mode. I've set vsync enabled (also tried disabled for each instance) to which I still do not get G-sync enabled in windowed.

G-sync works great in full screen. I tested that to make sure I didn't get a defective monitor or GPU. What am I missing for windowed mode to function?

I don't know much about Gsync, specially since I haven't tried it myself, but all I have read so far suggest that windowed mode is only supported in desktops for now. Perhaps it will be enabled later?

I think it's driver version. But then again, I never did much extensive testing in windowed mode. If I start a 3D app in windowed mode it will run at the 75Hz. But as soon as I take attention away from that window and go back to it, it's like it loses G-sync. It worked with earlier 353.06 or 353.30 I believe. If I get a chance to to test previous drivers I will.

    Full screen works without issue.

Yeah I have done full screen and it does work flawlessly in Blizzard games and league of legends, however it's relatively annoying that windowed does not work. I know league does not require much graphical power, and the laptop is overkill for running such a light game, so it does not disturb me that much for that game. I just cap FPS at 80 for league and never goes below 80, ever.

However, games like Heroes of the Storm or any other FPS intensive game like GTA5, the Gsync doesn't function, to which my FPS is possible to dip below 75 depending on what is going on in the game.

Perhaps it could just be that notebooks don't have full support for windowed mode yet, and only the desktop DisplayPort monitors do for the time being?

Well the function is in the control panel, so it should work, otherwise they should call it a beta function but I don't see that anywhere. Nvidia keeps breaking things that were working and fixing things that don't need fixing.

I know you have the same laptop based on the owners lounge, is it possible for you to test a true windowed mode, and see if G-sync is enabled for you? I use the nvidia control panel GSYNC indicator, which does show active for full screen, but any game I play does not show when it's in windowed mode.

Take a look here. Seems to work with Witcher 3 for me. That's all I've checked so far...

Possible for you to try a true windowed mode? Instead of borderless windowed. I do like to look at my taskbar to see if I received a message and whatnot. I saw your post on nvidia forums about this issue.

I chose windowed, borderless, and full screen in that video with both full screen and full screen + windowed selected in control panel.

Here it is running 720p in a window and full screen at 720p. It seems to work for me. I was just fussing with GPU-z's render test before and it didn't work with that. But with Witcher 3 it works.

Which Blizzard games are you running that it doesn't work? Maybe I can give that a try.

    Using drivers 353.62.

Posted this in the P770ZM-G owners lounge, but I solved my problem.

Windows Aero Theme is required for windowed GSYNC to function. I've always turned it off to increase windows performance, but decided to turn it on today, and now GSYNC works in windowed mode.

Hopefully if someone googles this problem, this result will come up

Oh so you're using Windows 7? Yeah it's weird like that. ShadowPlay desktop recording doesn't work either when Aero is disabled.
