The title says it all. Will Diablo 3 run better on Ivy Bridge or Titan? I am looking to grab a Ultrabook in the coming months and I know for a fact I will be addicted to Diablo 3. What do you think will run it better?
-
-
I have no idea what 'Titan' is. Do you mean Trinity?
-
Yeah, wat is Titan? A mistake for Trinity?
-
A better dedicated GPU will run it better
.
-
Get something a little more beefy so you can play Diablo 3 properly
The extra weight is worth a good gaming experience. -
is Trinity???
-
People have played Diablo decently enough on an HD 3000 on the MAC version. I think Ivy integrated should cut it well enough, but dedicated GPUs are still there for a reason.
-
trinity will do a better job than hd 4000 I believe.. and they will be both better than some dedicated gpus as we saw in some reviews
-
Yes I meant Trinity. This Ultrabook obviously won't be my main laptop that I play Diablo 3 on all of the time. I have a MSI with a GTX 580m for that. I just want a Ultrabook so I can play in bed or wherever else I don't feel like lugging my 10 pound laptop.
I realize a dedicated GPU will run Diablo 3 better. I wasn't born yesterday. I am getting a Ultrabook whether or not I can play Diablo 3. I just thought playing Diablo 3 would be a plus and what it would run better on. Ivy Bridge or Trinity. -
Trinity by a long shot.
-
Diablo 3 and Trinity both get released on the same day. just wait
Trinity IGP GPU scores are quite a bit higher than Intel's 4000 IGP according to this

Since Trinity get a GPU score of 55% more than Llano then it would be wise to pick the Trinity if you plan on buying a notebook without discrete GPU
The Trinity A10 4600M with 7660G GPU score in 3DMark11
The Llano A8-3500M with 6620G GPU score in 3DMark11

I just want to purchase a Ultrabook and so far I see no viable options that have discrete GPU's much better than what Trinity offer. Like I said before, this will be a Ultrabook that I use in bed and on the go. I already own a MSI w/ a GTX 580m which is used as my main notebook.
-
Like we said, just wait! you'll regret it otherwise

You think I'll be able to grab something with the 7730 for less than $800? I don't need 1080p or anything. After all, this is a secondary laptop.

How thin does this laptop need to be?
There are laptops currently available in your price range between 1.0" - 1.2" thick and around 5-6lbs with discrete cards that can already handle 1080p gaming just fine, and more models if you drop down to 1600x900.
I'm not sure how demanding Diablo 3 is specifically, but for running just about any game at 1080p, all you need is a graphics card around 5830m, 6770m, 7690m, 640m, 445m, 555m, 460m or better. With my 5830m, I can run every game I've ever tried (except Crysis and Witcher 2) at 1080p, often with all settings maxed, or everything maxed except anti-aliasing, or using FXAA instead of MSAA.
If you wait to pick something up with 7730m or 7750m, I imagine it will be comparable to a 460m but with roughly half the power consumption perhaps it will ship in some thinner laptops, like sub 1-inch models. -
why dont u get that acer ultrabook that comes with a 640m?
-
My wife and son need a new laptop. I'm hoping Trinity comes in some decent chassis as it would fit my needs perfectly if they were priced right. They're both gamers, but definitely more of the casual stuff.
-
I want it to be as thin as a Ultrabook. I just want a Ultrabook that will be able to run Diablo 3 on medium settings for when I am laying in bed or sitting on the couch. This Ultrabook will be used a web browsing PC 90% of the time as I will be doing most of my gaming on my MSI with a 580m. I don't think I would purchase another notebook is it wasn't Ultrabook thin. I suppose needing a dedicated GPU on it is just a unnecessary added cost since I won't really be gaming on it that much.

How thin in terms of inches? 1 inch? 1.1 inches? less than .8 inches? Depending on how flexible you are on the thickness, you can expect to spend a bit less.
I'm not familiar with the recommended specs for Diablo 3, but if you just want to play on medium settings with no anti-aliasing at 1366x768, you can probably find a lot of existing laptops that can do it.
As for running games while in bed and plugged into AC for an extended period, keep in mind you will most likely still want to use something like a lap desk along with a laptop cooler, regardless of the model you choose. -
I will be purchasing a Notebook that is as thin as the Samsung Series 9. Less than one inch thick. I understand I will need a power cord when gaming in bed but I don't think I will need a lap desk. Most of these Ultrabooks are designed so the intake vent is not obstructed by a soft surface. I really don't want to purchase anything right now. I don't need to purchase anything right now. I already have a beast of a laptop. I can hold off for the purchase of a secondary ultra thin notebook. Basically, I just wanted some opinions on Ivy Bridge and Trinity. It looks like Trinity will not only be cheaper but also more powerful on the AGPU side of things. It appears as if Trinity will run Diablo 3 on high settings at 720 easily.
-
If i would consider buying ultrabook, i would go for Trinity without any doubt.
However, we dont know yet if Trinity is able to compete with Intel power saving options as well as CPU/IGP perfomance overally. -

Have you considered the Sager NP 6110 (Clevo W110ER)?

Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
the problem not withstanding that most ultrabooks do have intakes on the bottom, is that the chassis usually gets very hot, I do play games on my bed, its quite comfortable, but I use a lapdesk, so that I can have children after that -
Are ultrabooks really going to have enough GPU to play D3?
-
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
yes, the hd3000 is the base spec, given that the hd4000 is quite an improvement, then we can say low medium should be what it will give you
-
Trinity A10 4600M with 7660G GPU scores about the same in 3DMark11 as M11x-R3 with GPU overclocked (1.1K Pscore). That seems pretty impressive.
-
From what I've been reading, it appears as if Trinity will be able to play Diablo 3 at 720p on medium to high settings and at 1080p on medium settings.
Ultrabook!!(Will Diablo 3 run better with Ivy Bridge or Titan?)
