GRID - GT1 Race - Saleen SR7
Someone post a more intense / higher quality / classier race clip! (also better video capture quality would be great)
who is the best?

BenLeonheart walk in see this wat do?
im still wondering how the heck do you make those awesome turns.
-
Masterchef341,
What is your controller setting? Do you use controller or wheel? I am having hard time with the control. It's nothing like sim or arcade like... -
where is your map, you don't use map when you play?
-
That's pretty good, I mean its not fantastic really, hell not even 1st place. And I don't know why people complain about the steering, I'm using a keyboard & it took me no longer than a day to get used to controls, I admit I have problems driving the Koenigsegg CCX so damn sensitive & drifting, never like drifting in any game.
-
Well, I can't drive from the inside like that, tried and won't do it for me
However,that's some wicked skills,got a pad or a steering wheel for it ? -
TheRealFireblade Notebook Consultant
Given the movements on the wheel, I'd say it's a gamepad?
Wheel movements are usually a lot smoother/less jerky than that.
Taking out half the field can't be considered good driving though? -
I'd say he is using a keyboard. The jerky movements are only happening when you use arrows
-
I haven't played GRID before, but after seeing your video, I don't think I'll be interested in it. I prefer racing games, not destruction derby. thank you.
-
Lol,it's a racing game, I think the OP had a desperate need for Carmageddon
-
although there is a destruction derby category
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
i wasn't trying to get first place. i was running fraps at the same time to record the video, thats why the control is choppy, i actually have analog control. just trying to make it look cool. i don't use the map or any gui stuff. straight view from in the car always.
i can post a more *classic* and less violent race if you like, but i'll have to do the race and then record the replay. i can't get 1st place with fraps running. -
just turn the setting down a bit
-
I can't get past the 2nd race LOL.
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
but i want ultra quality! (and you should too)
I'm going to post the next video to both youtube and an HD youtube like service (vimeo)
I wish GRID had a save replay or output replay as full res digital video option or a photo mode or something... -
Use something else, like Hypercam or something... -
Why don't you race like normal? Then afterwards on the replay, choose the desired camera angle (please not the cinematic one) and record that.
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
i'll look into hypercam
@ mainevent - that was my plan, exactly. -
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
alright, it took some effort to be able to post HD video here, but i finally got it.
this is GRID.

Nice driving in the Nsx. =]

Holy crap, now that is serious driving.
And with a controller -

Nice driving MC, what did you use to record. Gonna try to put mine up.
-
what controller do you use MC?

i just have a logitech rumblepad 2. it has two analog sticks, which is the bare minimum to be a good driver with grid. i guess you could get away with 1 stick, because it has two axis of motion, but really they need to be separate.
so you need two analog axis just to get by, for steering and pedal control. ideally i'll get a wheel and pedals, but any modern controller type thing with 2 analog sticks will allow you to play reasonably.
you guys wanna see that race? the higher class racing is so much more challenging than the tuner level, that it feels like starting over with no experience. the one thing i have to say about this game is that the difficulty level is insane (for me). but im a twitchy fps type, so im trying to get my senses about me and calm down. this game has a lot of speed, and just keeping up is a big challenge for me. I was driving a Saleen S7R against another Saleen, 2 Aston Martin DBR9's and a Lambourghini Murcielago. The other cars were racing at the same time, but in a different division.
let me know if you'd like to see the race, ive got the recording (i use fraps and get about a 1GB file, and then do a *high* quality transcode with visualhub to compress it down to about 100MB in h.264 mp4... then upload to vimeo or youtube). i topped out at 198mph (319kph) in this one, so its quite the step up in intensity from the tuner level. it took a lot of work to get this good... haven't played enough TOCA in the past.
I can also do one more, i think i might do a demolition derby run, or an F1 style race. maybe both. this game has a lot of versitility, attention to detail, and great physics and sense of speed. im addicted. -

you definitely have some skills. yet you said that the game gets challenging for you later
so far i only played some races in the Race Day option, which i think is only the beginner level and i can't even finish the race without a major crash or two. i'm still using a keyboard, but my Rumblepad 2 is only the way from Newegg already, can't wait!
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
uhh yeah, when i started, i couldn't finish a race at all. i don't like the replay feature (cheating? duh), so i would crash fatally and start over. then eventually you start to figure it out and the tuner level cars start to make sense. then you've got the classic porsche 911. its faster and more powerful and considerably more difficult to drive. then cars like the aston martin and lambourghini, which are another step up. then at the top there are the cars like the Audi a10 and the Courage c65. much faster and i still can't handle those cars without massive crashes or at least flying off the track at 150+ mph and spinning out.
im not sure where the f1 glorified go-carts fall into place in difficulty, and i tried the demolition derby, and that was just ridiculous (and sweet).
if i do another video, its going to be demolition derby. -

so the cars and tracks in Race Day are not all the ones that are avaiable, there is more to unlock? that is SWEET!!! woooohooo
-
Yeah, race day is just like a quick race feature.
Go into Grid World and start a career. You'll be able to buy cars, get sponsors, team-mates and stuff like that -
Kudos.. I like the Saleen race.. you performed well..
It definitely helps after you memorize the track brake points and etc... -
Your videos make me want to go buy Grid lol.
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
you have to memorize the track. for one, i don't use the minimap so that i can focus, and even with the minimap you still have to focus on the road. plus, you figure a professional driver would do more than just run through the track a few times until he "remembers" it. he would probably do a moderately in depth analysis on the track and get all the info he can. bank angles, practicing all the corners, time trials...
plus all of the AI know the track. i would be at a pretty big disadvantage if i didn't know anything about it.
gotta give Grid the recommendation. its definitely worth a buy. most fun and intense driving game i have ever played. moderate learning curve, be prepared for that. but its great once you get it. better than GT4 or GT5 prologue. -
yea, I know, in the demo I had to memorize the tracks before I had any chance, since there are corners in which you need to brake, and others which you can cut...
Umm... Grid Rocks? Post your grid videos!
