I recently bought World in Conflict off D2D because of their $5 sale thing. I was told that it runs fine on Windows 7 even though the site says Vista and XP ONLY. (Told in this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=422954&page=3)

What happens when I execute the setup file is that a box will pop up (like an error box) but there's no text in the box, just the x inscribed in the red circle.

Has anybody else been able to install this game on Windows 7? Or can anybody help me get it installed?

    Thanks

I have installed World In Conflict in Windows RC and RTM versions without any problems but I did that from World in Conflict (PC DVD). The problem is likely related to DirectToDrive. Have you tried running the setup file with compatibility Mode XP and Admin mode enabled?

Yes, just tried that and same result. Is there a way to redownload it from D2D? I've never used D2D before this.

Have you tried to run the installer "as administrator"? It should be an option when you right click on the exe.

The option never came up, but I did check off the box to run as admin under the preferences>compatibility by right clicking the icon.

EDIT: Hmm, oddly enough I tried unzipping the .zip file with 7-zip (was using the windows unzipper program before) and then ran the setup and it worked fine now. Thanks
