I had to do a system restore a few months ago and have not been able to do a modest overclock with nvidia system tools since then. I tried the 186.81 and 197.16 drivers and set the clocks like I used to and system tools would not accept them. I have since tried the newest 257.21 driver and the whole format has changed and I don't see any option to adjust the clocks. Uninstalled and reinstalled drivers and systools a couple of times. I'm basically a noob so hopefully there's a simple answer. Attached is a screen of the latest system tools format.
System is Asus M50sv/t9300/9500mGS. Any insight is appreciated.

Thought I'd bump this in hopes that somebody has some insight. I'm curious if the system tools format is the same as mine for those of you that have it installed with the 257.21 driver. I wonder if it installed properly since it is completely different than with previous drivers.
Secondary question in case I can't resolve the system tools issue.......Is anybody still using Rivatuner for GPU overclocking? -

^^ Same issue with 257.21 and other drivers
Edit: I'm trying to install this NVIDIA DRIVERS 6.06
However it will not instill until I uninstall nvidia performance, which my computer is refusing to do. -
Let me know how that works for you, soccerman. I just installed Rivatuner 2.24 and it works like a charm for a modest OC and 257.21 drivers.
I believe you have to uninstall the graphics driver before you can uninstall nvidia performance. -

I uninstalled the driver and then uninstalled nvidia performance. After both were uninstalled I tried installing the file linked above- no luck. Changing my clocks isn't an absolute necessity but I was surprised to find the option absent.

As I said above, rivatuner still works and it's pretty simple. I used it prior to nvidia performance and just installed and tried it again with good results.
Here is the guide I followed. http://forum.notebookreview.com/gam...king-stability-testing-guide.html#post3000755
I'm surprised nobody else has commented on the inability to OC with system tools. I assume it is the most common OC tool for nvidia users. -

Thanks for the info.

Install System Tools 6.03/2. It has given me the least amount of headaches.

Try using MSI Afterburner for an overclock, it should help and it works very well for notebooks and desktops. I stopped using Nvidia nTune as it wasn't too stable and crashes easily. I'm using Nvidia's 257.21 as well... It ran cool and smooth for my 8600M @ 60*C max on load.

uninstall it and try reinstalling again.
you will then see a performance tab in you nvidia control panel. under that you will find device settings. you will be able to o/c from there
hope that helps
ps
( im not sure if this works for 2xx.xx drivers) -
