I installed Civ 3 Complete on my new laptop successfully. When I try to run the game, the initial little load window comes up and then a few minutes later I get the error report screen. When it's trying to load, the drive keeps making odd noises like it's try to load it but it's not loading. I can play any other game no problem with the cd in the drive. The civ cds work fine on my desktop.

I tried disabling all startup programs and non-microsoft services using msconfig, but same problem. Uninstalled all Sonic software too.

Also, I had this same problem on my previous laptop which was an Inspiron 9300. I did manage to get the game to work on the old machine with a no-cd crack. Also, the old system had a different drive (Sony DVDRW) NOTE: I am using a retail copy of civ3 complete.

NOTE2: Hopefully this problem will be solved sometime this week since I ordered Civ4. Hopefully I won't have the same issue.
