This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     What do you mean by "building a laptop"? Build one from scratch yourself with various parts? I'll build desktops myself but prefer to buy/customize a complete notebook at time of purchase.

    I'd say excellent if you can save a good bit of money over a pre-built one, otherwise might as well get a pre-built one.

    It generally costs the same to build your own as to get a prebuilt one. Unless you have a bunch of spare parts, or feel like wasting a lot of time, there's not much reason to build your own.

    Buying barebones notebooks actually costs ALOT more than buying from most re sellers. Desktops on the other hand are the complete opposite, you'll NEVER find a reseller that will sell less than if you built it yourself.
