It is probably too low. Try in some smaller steps. Lets say 250/250. Does it work? If it is try 200/200. Once you are close to 100/100 try even smaller steps. YOu will find the minimum eventually. 256MB card has GDDR2 memory and maybe has different memory clock abilities than my 128 MB DDR which can be underclocked down to 60/80.

    Cheers,

Hm, I have the same laptop as you and I do 100/100 with no problems.

Try changing your latencies - go into the Overclocking Settings, then timings. Under Timings 1, change the CAS Latency to 1, then go to Timings 3, and set the Memory Refresh Bus to 99. That works for me.

    Chaz

Hm, no. I don't know why that's happening.

I have zero problems with CAS @ 1 and the Memory Refresh Bus @ 99.

remember..with any overclocking/underclocking..you need to do it in small increments. you should do them in 5-10mhz at a time..as anything else can be very troublesome. it also helps in diagnosing a problem, since it is a smaller range....

i.e. you jump 50mhz and it locks up. you dont know if it will work at 49mhz, and you have 50 values to check. if you jump up at 5-10 mhz, if may or not fail, but you only have a 0-10 range to check.

also remember this as it is very important...just because one person gets a certain overclock/underclock does NOT mean you will get the same, or anywhere near it. everything is itsnt the same, and cannot be treated the same. the same steps must be taken, but the end result can be similar or way off.

    hope this helps...

What are the default clocks of your X700? Mine are 351:331.

Yeup I noticed I got some lockups from time to time when I had it underclocked from NHC. When I clocked it down using PowerPlay in the Ati Control Panel everything was fine.

Like many videocards, some videocards don't like certain clock speeds and certain core/mem ratios. Gotta play with it.

    Cheers,
    Mike

I would keep the core:mem clocks within 20MHz of one another, and go down in 5-10MHz intervals as PB said, he gives good advice.
