Currently when I play ArmA II or the mod DayZ, I'm averaging a GPU utilization of anywhere between 50-70% with my GTX 675M in my Sager NP9150 (Clevo P150EM). Is there anyway I can somehow fix this? All other games I play, Battlefield 3, ArmA III Alpha, etc. I get near full 98-99% utilization on average. There is also a temp difference based on utilization. BF3 and A3 have gotten my GPU up to 85*C. A2 doesn't really go higher than 75*C. Any ideas on what I should do? Or is it that the game just isn't well optimized for my card?

I'm betting its cpu limited is all... Arma 2 loves cpu.

It is really CPU heavy. Check your CPU usage, it must be 100% all the time.

What settings are primarily CPU based? Would tuning those down help or is a bottleneck something that can't really be worked around?

probably none. its may be just doing heavy computations and such in the background. most probably nothing you can do about that.

Well, I messed with the settings, thing is, I still can't get anywhere more than 70% usage in OA and 80% usage in DayZ. Thing I check out my resource monitor, only one core gets near 100% usage, the others around 50%. As expected, the extra threads are parked. I don't know, I give up. I'll just deal with the fact I get 25-35 fps no matter what my settings seem to be.

If you drop down your Visabilty (view distance) that should take alot of strain of your CPU. Arma 2 was coded for dual core so it wont get any real benifits from your quad core. Also turn down the post processing, AA (go for FXAA), and tone done down the land geometry and lighting. Most imporantIy, I would also restart the entire game after changing these settings to take affect. Arma 2 is CPU bound, but also has its own set of quirks to get running well. If your looking for 60fps you might have to be satisfied running at 720 too. I've spent a lot of time tinkering with this game and I find a restart after changing settings gives a much more accurate read on what my setting changes have done.
