Hi guys....i am confused. The asus f8 labtop can be had with two different configurations.
    1) ATI HD2600 512 MB DDR2
    2) NVIDIA GEFORCE 8600GS 256 MB DDR3

Personally, i am leaning towards ATI, because i realise that the cards last longer in the sense that for example, ATI Radeon 9800 pro is the minimum requirement to play crysis. Geforce cards in that generation are not supported.
but overall, which cards offer the best peformance in current games(crysis, bioshock, etc)

    thanks.

yup, out of those 2, ur best bet is ati 2600. have u had a look at insipron 1520? dell has some nice deal out there again with the coupons, give it a try. 8600gt, that inspiron 1520 has, is better than 8600 gs, and about the same performance as 2600. nvidia, however, is currently having a driver-frenzy and new releases add to the performance. the best card u can get right now is still 7950gtx.

It's just because the GF FX were crap, the serie after the radeon 9xxx ( Radeon X) cannot run half the game released since april because of they requiere SM3.0 support.

    If you're talking about the F8sv it has a 8600GT (DDR2 version) not 8600GS

EDIT: I think the asia version has the 8600GS while the NA version is the one with the 8600GT

If the laptop is from Asia it will have the GS, I'm not sure if anything changed for North American consumers though.

thanks....but i was looking at 14.1 inch notebook.....a 15 inch is too big and too heavy.... :)
i think there is quite a major confusion as asus website states that the F8 is equipped with a 8600gt but most other websites indicate 8600gs, i guess we will only know when the product is released. :)
