    LOL,

A very dusty disk fell out of my sandbox; a scratched disk from 1998.

Working for max FPS on my old Voodoo 3DFX card brought back warm terrifying battles @23 FPS on 1024x768 in the Pentium days of lore.

What the heck, I installed it and it ran great; 60fps, @1600x900 on the Castle flyby ( timedemo) 1 !!!!

This is using the integrated 3000HD in my i5. I found the upgraded texture files so now down to 40 fps.

OK, I forgot a lot about the game but some areas it was just like I remembered it.

Yep, Skyrim looks way better but the hardware of 1998 would have exploded if you tried to run it in slide show mode. But, then its nice to play the GOG where you don’t have a two ton AC to keep things from melting ;)

    Cheers

Is this post about the original Unreal? :D Yeah, that game rocked. Remember the sequel mission pack Return to Na Pali?

Unreal Tournament (1999) was one of the, if not the, best multiplayer FPS games ever. Awesome gameplay, awesome engine. It was SO ahead of its time. To this day, there are lots of people still playing it, just check the in-game server browser! And you could mod the crap out of it.

    Unreal 2 sucked, though.

LOL, yeah the original FPS. Actually my hardware, old macs and gateways were of the 1996 vintage. If it were not for games, who would upgrade?

UT2004 > everything. I wish more people played it...Onslaught mode was awesome, and some of the Assault missions were pretty sweet. Best weapons ever.

UT3 was pretty underrated, i think.

The original Unreal Tournament was what got me addicted to FPS gaming. I played that game countless hours, particularly Low-grav Instagib CTF, in a very competitive gaming clan. Good times! :D

I also logged many hours in UT2k3 and UT2k4 and still fire up the UT2k4 from time to time. I recently installed the original back on my laptop just for a trip down memory lane. That opening music and the announcers voice still get me fired up! LOL

I have UT3 but could never find enough people on to have a good game with, although I admit I may not have given it a fair chance. Maybe I'll reinstall it at some point just to see if anyone is still playing it.

Lol, no problem finding populated servers for UT99 though.
