Is there anyone else out there who hates this engine? The graphics end up looking blurry and having that shinyness to them, without AA it looks more jaggy than most engines and worst of all is that stupid lag before the post processing kicks in properly.

The previous Unreal engines were good but this one is a flop imo.

I love it the Unreal 3 Engine.
The graphics are a bit dark, yes, but that's the style they were looking for.

I can see what you mean regarding the shininess of some textures, but it's never really annoyed me tbh.

And I'm fairly sure the Unreal 3 Engine uses deferred lighting in the place of AA. It can be forced through the Control Panel, but I've seen the need to.

You mean the UT3 engine? I like the way it's used in its namesake Unreal Tournament 3, and the Gears of War games. I'm not too fond of its rendition in America's Army 3, though.

So does the waiting 8 seconds for post processing to kick not annoy you?

Ya, it depends on who is using it. The Last Remnant looks amazing, but Bioshock really needed more texture detail.

I do not think it is necesarily a flop since it can deliver quite good graphics even for mid range GPUs - like the 8600mGT. Now, I am not sure where the 8 seconds processing came from (for me it is only like 3 seconds) but definitely it is a bit annoying. Definitely I think they should have corrected such problem, like artificially increasing for a few seconds the loading time with the 'engine not working'.
