Cloudfire you oddball, I love you for finding this. Unreal Tournament 4 is an FPS I'm pretty freaking sure I could get hyped for. And I hate hype these days. *jumps aboard hype train, kicks out conductor and yells "ALL ABOARD!"*

Bring in the stress is all I can say. I`m sure i will be too old to keep up with the teenagers but I`ll give it a go when its released
Hope they bring in tons of player modes like they had in UT2004.
Instagib for sniper/fast paced goodness.
Invasion for a little role playing.
Onslaught for tactical playing.
OMG cant wait.HTWingNut, D2 Ultima, HebronCL and 1 other person like this. -
I hope it has hitboxes similar to '99, I LOVE getting myself some headshots. I miss games with really fun guns like that. I'm still a young'un at 24 I'll get it all done *oils twitching arm and wrist*

I loved UT. I'm an old man now too, but still would love some bouncing and sniping levels.
EDIT: Holy Cow, speaking of UT, this dude has put in over 8000 hours in UT 3!!!
http://store.steampowered.com/app/13210
Just for the record, 8147 hours is about 339 days, considering this was released on Nov 19, 2007. It's been about 2370 days since then, so that's a full 24 hours every week for the last 6.5 years, or about 3 hours a day on average.Cloudfire likes this. -
As for the number of hours played, it's probably the Steam bug, or he just left the game on while doing other things.D2 Ultima likes this. -
Unreal Tournament is timeless. UT'99 is even the game I earned (yes earned) the name D2ultima in. UT4 just makes my insides burst with glee. And... Unreal Engine 4. Like I said, once it has UT '99's hitboxes I'm happy as all moocow.
-
I'm more of a Quake III guy but I definitely won't turn down a UT reboot if it's good.
-
Unreal Tournament 2004 is definitely my favourite of all the UT games.
It was the one who had most mods made by the community and there are still active people there I think now 10 years later.
A couple of years back me and a few buddies tried joining a couple of games and the skill on those people who still play...man BF or CoD got nothing on these guys. Lucky if you even get a few kills -
-
Wonder if you guys would recognize me from the UT franchise............................
-
Were you any good? -
And while they're at it, could we get another entry in the single player series as well? I actually enjoyed Unreal and Unreal 2...
-
Unreal was a watershed moment for PC gaming, Unreal II was mediocre. Even today I still have the original Unreal installed. Fully decked out with Kentie's D3D10 renderer and extreme high-res textures from the Retexturing Project, it actually gives my system a real workout, especially when I enable POM and 2x2 downsampling.
-
Like it's been said about Deus Ex would apply to unreal too- 'everytime you mention unreal, someone reinstalls it'
Definetely waiting for this release, UT 99' on voodoo banshee were epic times.octiceps likes this. -

Glad to see so many people excited for UT here. I just began my foray into the franchise with UT99 a week or so ago. Yep, I'm a noob haha, but at I'm having more fun with it than I've had with any shooter in a long time.

The news that "Unreal Tournament" will be free to play and the community will help decide and build the game came to me as a big surprise.
Epic will still have a team that will take the final decision on the game development, but I really like the idea that we the people get to inspire them and shape a game that will be awesome.
I have read a couple of posts on the unreal forum and the guy who composed the music on UT99 have jumped on board and wants the make the music for this game along with a couple of his friends. Then there is a massive support of coders, graphic designers etc who also want to contribute to the game. Not just for some cash but to shape the game.
People have polled if they want 2k4 speed in gameplay or want a more standard shooter slowpaced style, and the clear majority said they wanted 2k4 type which means that we probably will get that in the final product now that Epic listen to us.
I think the upcoming UT game will be amazing. -
It sounds good on paper, but lets see execution.
-
This is the best news this year, got to love UT, cant wait too see more...
