Does anyone have any info on the breakdown for the Nvidia 8 series GPUs in terms of what is coming out and what will be available? If you saw my other thread in the which notebook to get forum, this is why I'm waiting to get a laptop.

Something along the lines of a 8600? I don't care to have the absolute high end card (I'll most likely be getting a 15.4" laptop so that will rule out the top end 8800 and also I need to have around 3 hours of battery life), but I will want it to pull at least 5k in 3dMark06.

The Desktop Gefore 8600 GT gets around 6000 in the 3dMark06 benchmarks i have seen. 5000 might be a little much to ask for from the go version but 4500 might be possible.

not much is know about what is coming out next

your probably going to struggle finding a laptop version of the 8600 that will get 5k in 3dmark06. i should think with more driver support you'll be lucky to get 4000
