How do you guys think the new (soon-to-be released) ATI desktop graphics cards will compare to the nVidia counterparts?
I hear that nVidia is going high end, while ATI is trying to please the non-enthusiast crowd. I have a good feeling this will pull ATI way ahead in sales. Plus, nVidia has been getting bad raps recently for all the renaming schemes they have done with their products.

For the past few years, anyway, nVidia has been more oriented around being the best of the best, while ATi is more budget-oriented while still offering great performance. I imagine this trend will continue, at least with the next series.

I've heard some rumors leak out of random European countries that ATI plans to release their new video cards from top to bottom all at once.
The other rumor floating around is that among the arboreal codenamed desktop parts there is a list of mobile codenames. It could mean that ATI will soon be jumping to DX11 on the notebook front as well.
I guess we'll see.
Nvidia? I have no clue if they'll hit DX11 before the year's end. They're also working on heading towards 40nm processes. We'll see how it goes. -

if nvidia and ati both promise not to support dx11, will that stop ms from releasing it?
not aware of any big titles that 'require' dx10 let alone dx11 (having dx10 optimizations with min dx9b/c required doesn't count).
Upcoming graphics cards!
