Is this the right section for drivers?

I have AMD 6770M and INTEL 4000 GPUs on my laptop; the switchable graphics function is working properly and I want to keep it this way.

However, the AMD driver is dated now and needs to be updated.

What is the up to date driver version that I should install and where from? I don't want to uninstall exiting drivers or mess things up with roll backs and clean ups, and most importantly i want to keep the switchable graphics functionality.

    Many thanks.

    What laptop is it?

Switchable AMD graphics drivers are supposed to be managed by the manufacturer (HP, Sager, ...). You can check their website for updated drivers.

If you are like me and purchased from HP, don't expect updates. Check out leshcat drivers (google it) they may work. Leshcat worked well for my HP Envy 3200.

I have the HP Pavilion Dv6 model, HP stopped updating the AMD drivers for this one since 2011. I still have the original driver that supports both Intel and AMD gpus on my laptop. It makes everything run smooth, except that it is dated now.

I downloaded a 400MB beta driver from Guru3D released on Jan 8 2014 which supports my mobile card and it messed everything up.

After the driver installation was (successfully) completed a pop up message said there was no driver for my AMD device installed.

    Video no longer plays.

    Games no longer launch.

    Switchable graphics no longer works.

How do i uninstall this mess and make a clean install of my INTEL/AMD combo?

I still have the original driver supplied by my manufacturer HP which i normally use after each clean windows install. But i have to install it after uninstalling the current mess and not on top of it.

    help :(

    UPDATE

I uninstalled the AMD card from device manager, then restarted in safe mode and used Driver Fusion to delete the remaining AMD display driver files.

I then restarted in normal mode and ran the original driver package i have from HP and everything is working fine again, except that it is a 3 year old driver.

I think this Radeon Mobility driver supplied by AMD will fit in perfectly on top of my current driver set while keeping switchable graphics intact. It is the latest stable version for mobile cards (April 2013). I will not refer to Guru3D any longer.

If anyone knows of a more recent stable driver for AMD mobile Radeon cards please let me know.

    No modding.

    its trial and error.
your original drivers work so leave them be. unless you have a top of the range system and you want to drag every fps out of it then i wouldnt bother.
the original driver that came pre loaded with your laptop would of been a OEM release for the company only.
ive been updating nvidia drivers for years without any problems and always do it the manual way.
my new laptop last year i updated the nvidia driver with auto update and no matter which i tried i couldnt get any to work.
the only way i managed it was doing a system restore.
now i update the old skool way in safe mode with driver cleaner pro and ive not had any more problems.
i only updat now when the driver is for a specific game. i dont bother with beta drivers now.

I need to update my original 2011 AMD drivers to play games released late 2012. Not to play the current-gen games. So updating my drivers will make a difference in this case.

If anyone knows of a stable mobile driver for AMD Radeon, one that is more recent than the one released in April 2013, please let me know.

    Many thanks.

Have you tried leshcat ( http://leshcatlabs.net) drivers? I did a clean install with his latest release on my HP Envy 17 3200 CTO and it works great. Much better than stock drivers.

Otherwise you can sometimes download the desktop drivers from AMD and install over stock HP drivers and it will update the AMD drivers while leaving the intel alone. I have had mixed success with this method on my DV6 3143 with 5650 mobility.

The mobility drivers from AMD won't install on either machine, but you probably already knew that.

Lesson to be learned here - don't be like me and make the mistake of buying HP again. Their laptops burn up, and driver support is non-existent.

Second the Leshcat drivers. They're the ones my friend has always used on his i7-2630QM/Radeon 6770M DV6 from 2011.

So i have to uninstall the factory drivers for both Intel HD and AMD before installing leshcatlab's driver? or only uninstall AMD driver?

Or install it on top of the factory driver provided by HP?

    thanks.

I had to uninstall and remove factory drivers for it to work on my Envy. When I installed on top of any existing drivers, it would cause issues (switchable graphics not functioning mostly)

    Thanks.

I have to say the latest version of Leshcatlabs drivers not only work smoothly but have also improved my fps in newer games.

Alien Rage was horribly unplayable on the lowest settings (Reminder: AMD 6770M) but now i can play smoothly on high texture settings. I had thought it was about time to upgrade my hardware and that Alien rage was a poorly optimized game.

    Thanks again for the recommendation.

I went to another site to get modded drivers that correct most, if not all the problems with Enduro.
They are out there, if you know where to look.
These are the modded drivers created by a LeeKM on the Guru3D site, and they have worked
tremendously well for me and many others.
Not only do these drivers take care of the Enduro nonsense, but they really improve FPS scores and overall playability of the games we all play.
I have the 7970m GPU & the HD4000, and his modded CCC drivers are used by those of us with AMD GPUs, we all like them for what they have done.
If his modded driver fixes can work on your 6000 series GPU, then I would give that a try.
