hmm, mem clock at 530....you running any other tweaks or something

coz most people get only 475 mem clock before crashing in games occur, like in UT3 beta, if they set the clock to 500 mem, when selecting number of bots the game crashes

You have to downlaod the modded .inf as well as the driver. Extract the driver files to a folder, then copy the modded .inf to that folder, overwriting the exisitng file.

Also, what sort of performance are you seeing at stock in comparison to older drivers?

I haven't actually tried overclocking my 8600GT yet, what's the best program to OC with in Vista?

Can we can some in game benches as well, I have find out 3Dmark06 score increase is nothing more than to be used to brag. I have 3700 score after OC, but that doesn't translate much to Game Performace at all, at most I noticed a good 5 Fps increase at max.

3dmark06 has its shortcomings, but its a standardized test.
Just like benchmarking any other app, it will have its ups and downs.

Honestly, tom's latest round pretty well proved that using one game (like Fear) for benchmarking was even worse than using 3dmark06...

From experience, 3dmark06 changes under 50 points or so is "margin for error" level and really doesn't make a bit of real difference. Anything which boosts it by 200 points or more most assuredly WILL have a real effect in most games.

5 fps more when you were at 30fps?
    That's a 16% increase!

5 fps more when you were at 60fps?
    That's an 8% increase!

The biggest change is the ability to overclock and have the latest DX10 driver boosts.

    That's a 1000-point 3dmark06 boost, and a 20+% performance gain in games like Bioshock that wouldn't run OC'd.

    163.44 drivers (no OC available) - 3903
    158.45 drivers (no OC/OC) - 3700/4100
    167.26 drivers (no OC/OC) - 3930/4500

    These are keepers.

I just downloaded and installed the 167.26 drivers. My 3DMarl06 score actually went from 3800 with the 163.44 drivers to 3650 with the 167.26 drivers...although I'm not sure how to over clock the GPU.

You cant claim drivers alone have boosted your scores when you have an overclock going.

You need to go to stock clocks. Also overclock scores are personal and not for everybody. The next guy (me for instance :p) may have a card that wont overclock to the same speeds. More than 30mhz more on mine and it crashes in any test.

I'm confused about a few things:

    (1) Resolution run at is 1280x800? That's over 20% fewer pixels, try running @ 1280x1024 just for normal comparison, please. Those high scores shocked me at first as I have o/c'd my 8600m GT.

    (2) 670MHz GPU Clock? You are either very lucky or have not done an extended o/c test for stability. Highest I've seen is 620MHz, although most are stable at about 600MHz.

    (3) Why is one @ GPU 640MHz / Mem 500 MHz and the other GPU 670 MHz / Mem 530 MHz - this would make up the difference in score alone, not the driver.

If you can truly even get GPU 640 MHz / Mem 500 MHz you're doing well. That should render about a 4000 to 4100 3DMark06 score.

Also, reading the replies at lv2go, you will noticed the drivers had sleeping issues, when resuming it gives BSOD. I recommand sticking with what you have before rushing to update to this driver.

I find it to be very stable so far. Fifa menu's improved, game playable at 800x600 but nothing higher. Can't see any difference in Orange Box.

Edit: After about 5 hours on this new driver I've gone back to 163.75. I noticed some very minor lags in Vista when moving windows around and dragging items on the desktop.
