I play bf4 most of the time and it needed a gpu mandatory update to continue. I have a lenovo y50 with i5 4200H 2.80 ghz, 8 gb ram, gtx 860M, windows 8.1. I updated to the 347.52 WHQL driver and currently the 347.88 WHQL one. I mostly play on ultra settings and average about 25-35 fps, is that normal? GPU max temperature is around 58-61 celcius with a cooler master notepal ergostand lite cooler. Am I doing it right by updating to a current driver when it's release? Are there any benefits to battlefield 4 and the 347.88 WHQL driver? I update manually though the geforce website. I don't know anything about these gaming things. All I want to do I play on pc because of the portability LOL.

The new 347.88 driver has brought significant improvements to BF4 according to people's reports... I would definetly update to it... (This new driver is for BF Hardline but just like the driver that came out when BF4 came out, this driver significantly increases performance for the previous game)...

BF: Hardline has for me at least wonky fps issues.

I don't believe that. How did TechSpot benchmark it then?

Jarring, sure, but not a huge deal if it's only the cutscenes

Digital Foundry confirmed what I suspected--only the animations are locked to 30 FPS.

Glorified BF4 mod...
Yeah no thanks -

If the cutscenes are pre-recorded I don't see how it's a big deal that they run at a lower frame rate since you're already disconnected from the game. It's super common in games anyway, especially if the FMV is live action. It's only if the cutscenes are done real-time in-engine that a lower frame rate presents a jarring experience. Maybe the solution is to go for maximum immersion and get rid of cutscenes entirely a la Half-Life.
Updating GPU drivers nessasary?
