Hello everyone, I was thinking of upgrading my HD 2400 XT in my Acer TravelMate 7520G to a better HD 2600 XT or HD 3650. But what Im worried (confused as well) about is all these Max fillrates, max bandwidths, core and memory MHz... I know I should match them somehow but Ive never found out my gpu bus speed. Heerd about multipliers/dividers but how can I find my PCIe divider? Ive had a look on wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCIE and it says PCIe x16 v1.0 has got 2.5GT/s and 250 MB/s. Then Ive had a look on wiki again http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compar...s#Radeon_R600_.28HD_2xxx.2C_HD_3xxx.29_series showing HD2400XT 2.8 GT/s and 12.8 GB/s which is bigger but still closer. Does it mean that upgrading to anything faster (HD2600XT or HD3650) would be worthless just because the bus speed? I know about all risks when upgrading, but Id like to try it anyway. And Id also like to stay with ATI cause Ive got ATI chipset (I think). Thanks for any answers as Im pretty lost here and I wouldnt like to just waste the money. Cheers lads. Dave

Read this and compatibility of cards in your computer here.

BTW you have got PCIe x16 which means the bandwidth is 250MB/s*16 = 4000MB/s and it also says 2.5GT/s per lane, so 2.5GT/s*16 = 40GT as well, not that I think it really matters..

The HD3650 has been proven to work.

The TravelMate 7520G may be able to upgrade its GPU if it's on an MXM card. Time to do some research, kiddo! :)

Namaiky cheers for clarifying that, but if the PCI x16 = 4GB bandwidth, why the 2600 XT has got 24.4GB? What does the rest 20GB do?
TehSuigi I did some research already and it is MXMII. Everyone says youll have to flash your vgabios but the lad in namaikis link doesnt say anything like that. Well Ill have to give it a try... Thanks to all of you...

You're confusing bus bandwidth with memory bandwidth. Don't worry yourself about throughput numbers, benchmarks will tell you all you need to know.
