    warning all of u i am lost since this is my first laptop.I just ordered this new inspiron 1520 thats comin in a week and all the spec crap is at the bottom. i was wondering 3 things. What kind of expresscard slot does the inspiron 1520 have? A pci or pci expressx16. Is it possible to put video cards in the expresscard slot and disable the integrated x3100 card and enable the expresscard slot video card? And if i can what kind of cards are out there to upgrade to?

    to my understanding, you can't stick in a video card in the expresscard slot because its not fast enough.

    if you get an integrated graphics card, im not even sure if you can buy one of the nvidia ones and stick it in....if you wanted a better graphics card, you should've ordered your 1520 with one

    its a pci express 1x slot. and no it cannot handle the bandwidth of graphics rendering thourgh that slot.

    i would've but my dad ordered at the mall so thats wat screwed everything lol since i thought he was ordering the Geforce 256mb

    I'd cancel the order before they make it and reorder... there was something like a 415$ coupon hangin around for today I think or somethin...

    You could try contacting Dell yourself if you have the information, and asking them what the price difference would be, especially if it hasn't shipped yet. Not sure if by coming in a week you meant shipped already or not.



    You could run CnC Generals...I would guess at low, maybe med. But really the 3100 isn't a gaming card, you will be forced to low resolutions and low settings in just about everything. So if you are serious, try calling Dell and changing the order, or cancelling it. Of course speak to your father, don't just pull the rug from under him.
