    Hey all,

Recently my ASUS started GSOD on me for first time. Went to uninstall and reinstall with latest video drivers. Tried every variation of the latest catalyst with no luck.

One driver says is installs and CCC isn't working and needs to be shutdown. Turns out the driver never even updated according to GPU-Z.

Another gets to the end and says "failed to load detection driver".

Have updates all the C++ and windows updates and all with no link. Seems to only like the older ati one :( 9.12 I believe

System is Standard G73JH with m5870 and Windows 7 64 Bit (yes i made sure and got the 64 bit ones.

    Any help would be great.

P.S. Atleast the Grey Screen has stopped giving me trouble.
P.S.S Gets to end on latest cat but then has an error log "AMD Display Driver" Status failed.

If you're still on warranty with ASUS you should contact them.
Never saw any GSODs on a G73 in 1.5 years. I also think those people who did a GSOD fix had/still have faulty hardware.

The GSOD issue was fixed by flashing the VBIOS version .93.

There is a post here explaining how to do it, simply create a bootable win98 flash drive and boot into it in the BIOS and type Vflash or OD2 depending on what version you are using.

Why didn't you post this in the Asus Gaming Notebook forum rather than the Gaming and graphics card forum?

This issue is specific to the Asus G73jh. The answer to your issue is posted in the sticky too in that forum.

What does the info tab in CCC says? That's where you should look for confirmation.

CCC Says it's running 11.7. I tried the latest mobility drivers off AMD but after the install everything passes but log says AMD Display Driver Final Status: Fail

P.S. Strangly after trying every driver I could the Preview 11.10 one worked just fine like nothing was wrong. Weird.

When you try to install the files for ATI drivers, they are unpacked at a location on your drive. Go to your device manager and choose to manually update the driver. Then browse to the folder i mentioned and it should force the driver installation.

    Default location should C:\ATI\Support\11-9_mobility..._ocl\Packages\Drivers\Display.
