I know that it's normally impossible to upgrade graphics on a laptop, but I have heard that with some Dell, it is possible. My question is, is it possible to upgrade a dell e1505 (with a x1400) with a graphic card from the new e1520 series (in particular the 8600m GT)?

Nope, the e1505 supports the x1400/7400 MAX. The 1520/1500 uses a different motherboard and probably will not fit.

All hope isn't lost though. The Asus has developed the XG Station external graphics solution. I just have heard no news about it since earlier this year.
