    hi
    my laptop in its way ( shipping ) home ... and I was wondering if I can upgrade its AMD cpu with core i7-3610QM or i7-3720QM , recently I saw in this post did this with i7-3610QM but can't find the way or the leads to it.
    so is it possible to do this upgrade or not

    I think AMD and intel cpus shared a socket maybe 14-15 years ago, but never since then have you been able to move from one to the other on any platform.

    You need a new motherboard with the a different socket to use the i7 I`m afraid

    Yeah, that was cool time when a 286/ 386/ 486 motherboard was compatible with both AMD and Intel CPUs. Later VIA C7 processor in Pentium 3 motherboard. I want back the same compatibility :D.

    These days you're lucky if your mobile CPU can be upgraded to the next generation from your own manufacturer. Sometimes you can't even upgrade within the generation.
