I think You may have misunderstood me. I mean to install a new video card. Finding the gpu itself is the trick and then i need to know how to install it no upgrading the intel chip.

Sorry to tell you but you can't install a new video card on most laptops. If there are motherboards that will work on your laptop that has a better gpu, you may be able to swap the motherboard. Thats how I upgraded my old Dell Studio 1535 from intel's gma 965 to ati mobility hd 3450.

it's an i3 so your GPU should be built into the CPU, right?

The highest you could go is a Geforce 105M with i3 which would require you to swap out your motherboard because the GPU is soldered to it.

If you wanted to go higher, you would have to get the motherboard for the i7 quad core which has the geforce 320M. But that would require you to get other components as well such as new CPU, heatsink/fan, etc.

To see what I mean, review the service manual for quad core dv6: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01860375.pdf

See section for component removal of system board.
