My msi gx640 seems hungry for power. I am running a super clocked 5850m and Intel qm740. Seems 900/1090 is the maximum over clock I get. I after this laptop driver stops to respond and am thinking maybe it does not get enough power. 120w sounds so low

well, why dont you just check the power-consumption of your notebook?
If it hits 120W then a stronger adapter can help. I also upgraded my 90W adapter to 120W because my notebook was really hungry (>90W) for energy and CPU started to throttle itself because of low energy.

Its likely the gpu voltage that needs raised.

I agree with Meaker. You should first over-volt the GPU. Or like Dareference suggested, monitor your power consumption. You should probably do these before you purchase a power supply only to realize you don't need it. Meaker's advice requires you to spend no extra money.

I always suffered lower FPS when my PSU didn't have enough power to manage the GPUs. This was back during my attempts at crossfire. :p

I'd check to see if the overclock is actually stable first, before running to get another PSU... though the PSU isn't a bad idea... just get that anyway just because. :3
