After I got my 1GB RAM to replace one of my 256MB RAM, I play WOW on Fujitsu N3510 with X300 64MB VRAM on it.

And I noticed there is no noticeable lag in major city. I get constantly 30 - 40 FPS with 1280 x 800 resolution and with all the other eye candy turn down or off.

I believe 1.25GB RAM is more than enough to cache all the necessary info for the CPU and GPU to calculate for the game, without accessing the harddisk too much for swap page. (Before the upgrade, I need to wait 1 min before I can move inside the major city.)

I don't believe upgrading from 1GB to 2GB is necessary for this game, because my weakiest link is my graphic card, but it get the job done for the game I play.

yes you are correct there. To get any more performance, a better graphics card would be needed indeed

Yes, at the moment... 2GB isn't necessary for most people. 1GB seems to be the sweet spot at the moment.

1GB is very affordable too - especially if you do it yourself.

Agreed - over 1GB is gravy.

In WoW, FPS is heavily tied to the amount of RAM you have. With only 512MB of RAM, I was lagging everywhere, but once I got my 1GB stick, it was MUCH smoother. Still, I feel that it is not my video card to blame, but the lack of RAM which I have.

You know you more RAM will have an impact on your performance if your framerate isn't consistent (like one moment it's 10FPS, the next 40FPS). At max settings with AA and AF on highest, 1GB is the strict minimum, and 2GB is readily used.
