An amazing attempt at ripping off buyers for the latest technology available. In 8 to 10 months its public price will probably be half of what it is now. Asus wants you to take it in the a**.

The MSI GT680R will be cheaper, one website said €1500-€1999 or $1500-$1999.

MSI Sandy Bridge GT680R to sell for ?1999

If the MSI was $2500, people would buy alienware or clevo. What's the point of MSI if it's not cheaper.

Whoa, MSI is actually implementing switchable graphics? At least it sounds like it. I know the CPU comes with the GPU integrated, but even with the dual core mobile i5/i7's that had it they didn't implement it.

I'm hoping to pick up a base model for about $1500 or less if I can. I already have 8GB RAM and will live with my momentus XT until I can afford a decent SSD. But $2500 is murder. That's ridiculous. I'll stick with current tech if I really need to buy then.

You do know their listing the chinese sale price which is always inflated.. the US sale price is most likely $1799 for G73SW.

The fact that they are putting last generation graphics in these "new generation" laptops is even more of a problem for me. 90% of the games I play are still GPU limited, and then HDD limited. I'm impressed by the new Intel SB processors but a laptop is the entire package, and right now the package doesn't warrant a ~$1k increase over last years models.

I think its just sites that want to attract new customers with something that isnt even allowed to show or even take preorders. Once the NDA is lifted and better retailers like the ones that hang here in NBR start taking preorders we will see the real price difference, imo anything above $200 over current line isnt worth it.

Sandy bridge looks nice but I'm really looking forward to the new set of GPUs coming out.
