I have both PS3 and 360. So i cant plug the PS3 contorller into the usb in the pc directly and use it?, or use the 360 controller with converter?. No i havent read all the post in the thrad yet -
PS3 controller is Bluetooth, iirc, or something like it.
MS sells an adaptor to use for the wireless controllers, and the wired ones are USB plug-n-play (MS provides the driver via Windows Update).

Have to try the PS3 controll...first then -
I tried using the xbox wired on cod mw2 and it didn't work !! what am I doing wrong ? or not all the games are supported? none of the buttons worked, do I have to download any extra drivers? I'm new at playing games on computers and I want to use the controller on the computer but it seems like a hassle just to instal the remote! what can I do ? the game doesen't have any options to switch between keyboard and controler what do I do to make it work?

check your windows control panel and look at your controllers / devices if you see the controller there you can test it via the properties tab.
xbox 360 controllers are plug & play on Vista & 7 but you need to get the drivers for it for XP.
COD may not support it, personally I think FPS games are better suited for mouse & keyboard anyways but thats just my preference. -
i go with 360 because mor3e games support it without havign to use a 3rd part app to map the PS3

I have windows 7 and you can see it on the control panel and it works, so it must be that cod doesn't support it, wich FPS games are xbox360 remote control plug and play? Thank you for the help. -
. Look for your FPS of choice on there (note: I'm not sure how accurate it is, but I'm guessing it ain't so off).

I would say 360 controller too, also since razor has a new one coming soon which has been in development forever. Because the 360 controller has the best compatibilities with games on windows platform. Also, if you are playing racing games like GRID or Dirt 2 the game recognized the pressure of the buttons so you can control your throttle and braking better. I have used a ps2 to usb controller before and it works for the those games, but after using the 360 controller it plays much better.
Example, in GRID when I hit the gas, my acceleration would instantly hit 100% where it would cause my tires to spin out. Now this is good at the start of a race but when you hit a wall or stop hard during a race makes it harder to get back in control. The 360 makes acceleration smoother in launching your car so it wont fly out of control so rapidly. -
I'm using my xbox 360 wireless controller with the M$ wireless adapter. I have noticed with some games you have to map the buttons to use the game. If thats the case you can use a free software called xpadder (google). There is also another site called:
Pinnacle Game Profiler
The software from this site has to be paid for, but you can use it for 30 days trial. When you join the site (its free) you can download game profiles that have already mapped the conroller buttons.
This may all sound like a hassle, but it took a total of an hour and a half to figure everything out. Playing pc games with the controller IMHO is a great way to play the game. Especially when looking for the right button on the key board can get you killed
Currently playing Metro 2033 with 360 controller -

PS3 is fully analog too including triggers just a FYI. -

I nabbed a Xbox360 PC Wireless Black from BestBuy for $40
Love the controller compared to my Logitech Dual Shock
