i found this sick program that lets you have wii like motion sensing on your laptop to play with any game. all you need is a decent webcam, a bright room, and a bright object and you can play all sorts of games on your laptop with motion sensor controls. its free and easy so check it out

it's okay, but it constantly lost track of the object i tried using and would track the wall behind me.

    HOLY CRAP ! ! !
    Im definitely trying this out!!!

I love it how they show it running on a mac in the videos but it says "I'm Mac!... notify me"
HMMM someones not letting us Mac users have fun =/

"Make sure there's plenty of light in the room you're in.
Pick a bright, colorful object with a uniform color that is NOT the color of your shirt or the wall behind you."

PS: to anybody with tracking problems... WORK WITH IT, FIX IT... dont sit there and complain, obviously in the videos they had it figured out!!!

USE A GOOD WEBCAM TOO, not some crappy 1MP generic crap 1FPS 320*160

Hmm. Wouldn't install on my x64 home premium... The installation wizard extracted all the files but froze when executing the program. I figured it's because the default installation point is the program files folder, but trying to change it also froze it.

Hope it works out for everyone else :)

Did it with my Aspire One's webcam. Had to turn on the lamps behind me to get 30FPS and make it work, but it worked amazingly well and smooth, actually MUCH faster, accurate and sensitive than the wii's controller.

Strangely though, one of the games caused about 900 pop ups to flood my screen til my aspire one locked up. I don't think it was the program it's self though, rather the web page it opened when I clicked on one of the games, but that was an insane amount of ads.

I initially tried it out with a blue mini Maglite. After registering it as an object, it put an axis on it, and registered when I twisted it, moved it around, rotated it etc. This program is truly epic!

Has anyone tried using this as a 6DOF tracker?

It would be awesome for racing and flight sims.

Heck yes I did :). I've also got an interview with the founder & CEO lined up.

(Oh and remember to try to use objects that don't match anything you're wearing. I was wearing a bright pink shirt the first time I tried it and picked a pink highlighter to use and that really messed it up for me until I changed my top!)

Cool, but I will stick with my Wiimote :p there is a lot more than just one motion tracker in there. Accelerometers and gyro based sensors too, and all of them can be used in games or applications.

Then add in the nunchuck or classic controller for even more stuff.

While watching the Youtube videos at the bottom, showing how it worked, I "tried" it out, without installing it, just to see how it would feel.

Arm got tired in about 9 seconds. Think I'll stick to the keyboard/mouse.

    Laziness FTW!

Some Wii games can wear you out. I was playing Dragon Quest Swords today and thats one of them, you have to slash your wiimote like a sword to fight.

Even using the wii wheel in mario kart can get your arms tired after so long because you get all into the game, and when you go to make a really hard turn you find yourself turning with your whole body in an effort to lean your kart over more :p

Man I remember (Still do it sometimes), even on Playstation 2 controllers I would always lean with the direction I was putting my analog stick on sharp corners of racing games when I wanted to avoid the wall. Haha. Think we've all done that eh guys? :)

SWEET! I'm trying that out this weekend! I played Medal of Honor on Wii a couple weekends ago and I was hooked. It was just like the arcades.

It made going back to a mouse and keyboard a seriously downer.

I really enjoyed the wheel when I first got the game, but then I started getting competitive and moved to the nunchuck. My game improved quite a bit, though if you stick with the wheel long enough you can get pretty good with it. They should give wheel users a slight boost in speed or something to even the grounds up some.

The interview with CamSpace founder & CEO is up on Gaming Vixen if anyone's interested (Ughh, I hope this isn't against the rules, seeing as I'm keeping on topic and not linking to the post or anything >.<).

I'm totally CamSpacing it up right now :S:S:S. Until later today, anyway (time to replay the Diablo games in preparation for III).
