Hello
I have an old gaming laptop with a GT 335M GPU. Everything works just fine aside from the GT335M GPU.
Anyone figured out how to use a GTX 980M or any of the GTX "M" series GPU's externally? I'm looking on my own but have yet to find any information... I have an extra WWAN slot I'm not using...
Thanks
Gus
UPDATE: More info
Laptop: Alienware m11x R1 (recently purchased R2 board)
Trying to: Use ANY gtx "M" to overcome the GT 335M poor performance.
I'm building a "power sheet" much like a Sony power sheet. Except I want to add more battery, upgraded GPU, and (I know I'm dreaming) water cooling. Cramming it in a 11 " L x 8.5 " W x 1" H will be a challenge... Concept picture.
But prefer to spend $400 + on trying than forking over $1k + on current gaming laptops... End goal is to play Call of Duty, Battlefield 4, Alien, Crysis 3 @ 50 - 60 fps. If it can handle those it can handle most anything I will play in the near future to decrompress. TMI: I work in a Level 1 trauma/ER center, so destressing/decompression is vital.
Tools to do the job:
1x - CNC machine
2x - 3d printers
1x - soldering station with heat gun

cannot
use wwan with something like exp gdc beast, run normal card outside the laptop -
Kinda sorta can from what I have recently found. Was hoping for a more compact solution.

Using mPcie would be a mistake, if you're going to do this I suggest going from the internal mxm 2 slot to your external card but I don't expect it to be easy
Using GTX980M externally like the reg size GPU's. Anyone?
