Hey all, (this may sound stupid, so firgive me if im asking the unreasonable) but is it possible to play on my PS3 using my laptops screen? I have a Dell XPS M1530 which has a HDMI port, but isnt that just for TV Out? If its possible, what do I have to do?
Thanks

The HDMI port is only for output. You'd need a TV Tuner if you want to use your laptop screen. Might as well get a TV instead.

I have a USB TV tuner, but I expct your talking about a tuner that goes in a (PCMCIA slot? Or what ever it is)
I do have a TV, but when go and stay with my dad (who lives 80 miles away) theres no room for my TV amongst everything else, I could use his TV, but his wife complains... basically would be easier just to take my laptop and PS3 to save all the hassle of an argument. But a USB tv tuner isn't the right sort? -
dont expect more than 480i/480p when connecting a console to the TV Tuner input (S-Video usually).

usb tuners have a lag of over 1 sec.

Try Avermedia Express card or Cardbus TV tuners (depending on what slot you have), they're usually pretty good.
Although they are not all compatible with a European PAL 60 signal such as that forced upon us in the UK when using the Xbox 360 and various games that don't support the 50hz signal mode.
The Avermedia E501 works ok though. -
If the USB tuner uses a hardware decoder, the signal will lag since it does everything onboard the box then sends the signal to your pc. ex: ATI USB TV Wonder 2.0.
IF the USB tuner uses a software decoder, there is little to no signal lag. The downside is that you need a better spec CPU since it is handled on the hardware side.
