Is it possible? It looks like it only kicks in while on battery, i'd actually like to turn it on while on AC as well.

The only thing that battery boost does is limit the FPS of the game. You can do this with nVidia Inspector. I've been doing this for years with laptops, keeps the power and thermals in check. I set it to 60FPS for BF4 and drops CPU temps by 12C and GPU by 8C compared to left unlocked.

How do you do that with nVidia Inspector? I've checked and I can't seem to find the option anywhere. Either I'm blind or dumb ( or a combo of both ) .

I agree it would be nice if they offered the feature though regardless if on battery or on AC.
It seems it is more than just FPS limiting: http://www.anandtech.com/show/7834/nvidia-geforce-800m-lineup-battery-boost/2
I don't know though. I should test it out and see. -
best of both worlds.

It doesn't appear that nvidiainspector setting fps cap is working in arkham city. I heard there was a situation where it doesn't work with vsync in some cases on newer drivers. I'll try some other things tomorrow.

So I just tested some games with nvidia inspector finally and downloaded fraps to watch FPS. I set nvidia inspector to cap at 30 FPS globally.
Dark Souls: Works. Capped to 30 FPS, though perhaps DS is just capped to 30 FPS? (EDIT: YES.. I read it is..)
Arkham City: Whether I have VSYNC on or off in game it doesn't matter. FPS cap setting doesn't work and it renders as fast as it can. It does honor vsync though, vsync off is a mess of tearing.
Wasteland 2: it has it's own built in limiter to set target frame rate in the options if you turn off vsync, seems to work but makes nvinspector moot.
Alan Wake: doesn't work, vsync - 60 FPS, vsync off: 200+ fps..
Tomb Raider Anniversary: didn't work.
So .. I think in a nutshell. nvidia inspector's FPS cap setting doesn't work, at least with the latest nvidia drivers. It would be nice if nVidia just made it so you could use "Battery Boost" on AC as well. -
I get Tomb Raider to work fine with it. I don't play the other ones though so can't speak to it...
And don't set it globally, set it by each game, otherwise it won't work on 90% of games. -

Why not use the RTSS FPS limiter? It's always been flawless unlike Nvidia Inspector.
Using nVidia Battery Boost on AC?
