As we know it, portal 2 is out. Any one knows news, updates, or comments on valve next project. I have been waiting for the next half life sequel, but looks that is not going to happen. Looks that with valve's current success on the market, they are leaving the unfinished half life 2 sequel in the dust.![]()

Dota 2!!! Cannot wait..
-
Most likely -
* Finishing up HL2 EP3
* Planning on HL3
* Working on the next generation Source engine - in anticipation of next gen consoles and PC hardwares
* L4D3 and CSS2 are also possibilities -
But who knows? We may never know what's going on with the head of Gabe Newell. Your second one will take about at least 3 years I suspectand the first one at least 2 years.
As for the topic, I heard from some people that VALVe might be working for a game that goes with Super 8 as we saw in the in game trailer. I am in test chamber 3 right now for p2 but I am hoping that there are some easter eggs that might give us some clues on ep3/Dota 2/ HL3(?)/ new project. -
team fortress 3 or
more team fortress 2 milking. -
I think Valve gave up on Episodes and are more than likely working towards Half-Life 3. As long as they make it epic like the first two... I really hope though that they do concentrate on Half-Life 3 finally now that they've knocked out two Left 4 Dead's, continuous updates to TF2, and now Portal 2.
Fans deserve a solid Half-Life 3, especially if it completes the story, which I would be perfectly fine with. -
i really wanna see a TF3, as long as they keep the cartoonish characters we have all come to love, without them the game is dead to me.

At this point, i wouldn't be happy with HL2:ep3. It's just taken too long. A single player only source-engine first person shooter game using circa 2003 tech and mechanics? No thanks.
I'm waiting for Source 2.0. Hopefully they will skip half life 2: part 4, call it half life 3, and introduce something special and fresh and new, and make it the lead out game for their new engine.
I think any single player game valve releases at this point needs to AT LEAST have a companion co-op game as in Portal 2.
Alternatively, I'd like to see a funky pack. Something like Episode 3 + Dota 2 + Portal 2. That would be funky and valve-like. It's kinda weird they are charging for Dota at all. It would be nice to at least offer it on the cheap (or at a good value) -
Wait, I'm a bit behind here. How is Valve releasing dota 2 when it was a WC3 mod right?
-
Hopefully they will start working on an epic half life 3(episode 3 would be pointlessness at this time, considering it has been 4 years already(damn, time passes by rapidly))
-
So yes this is Valve's current project now I would assume, set for release later this year. -
-
Well they mentioned a release this year but I doubt that'll happen ._.

No Dota 2 will come out this year. I believe its a firm release date. At least I am praying it is.
-
"Firm" for valve is a "Maybe only one or two delays"
-
-
-
-
-
Blizzard goes for the 2-3 year delay approach not 2-3 months

just found this on the net, hopefully is turns out to be real.
Valve’s ‘Portal 2′ ARG Hints at Half-Life 3/Episode 3 - Game Rant -
There is a lot hinting at HL3/Ep3 being their next major target, I loved the portal 2 references, especially
the borealis (ship from the end of hl:ep2) -
WE invented but someone else somehow stole it. Black Mesa my A.. "Sir! the test!" uh yes... - CJ -
DOTA does not belong to Blizzard, as it is a mod created by using the proprietary WC3 Map editor (basically a mod maker). It belongs to the community, and Valve didn't have to acquire any rights to recreate it using the source engine. -
I was wondering why VALVe released a free game few months ago. No wonder, that one was for Dota 2. can't wait till another well polished and well made game from one of the two best PC game developers.
P.S. Guess the other best PC game dev! -

Activision!

I would expect to see a new graphics engine before we get full blown sequels to Half Life, Counter-Strike, or Team Fortress.
-
-
Doubtful, the great thing about the source engine is it's all modular, and can be upgraded/updated without having to rewrite things that work (like the physics, sound engines ect).
-
Source engine has been upgraded all along. To be honest, I don't care about updated graphics, just give me the same great story they've done all along. The end.
-
-
They added HDR, multicore rendering, better shaders and much more.
But they patched HL2 to the newer Source engine so you cant see the old one longer. -

It doesn't really matter what they call it or how much of the original engine they scrap or patch. It's an engine. It's entirely about capability and performance. I would be happy if they would start making games that look at least as good as other games coming out this year. Source games currently look pretty dated.
-
What I don't want is, VALVe spending too much time on changing the engine and spending less on gameplay/story on the next project. I'll take better story/gameplay than graphics any time.
