It actually plays WoW decently (it's generally 20fps, which is poo but it beats lugging my desktop to other peoples dorms). Anyway, I recently found the thread for X3100 having new drivers. Well, I downloaded the Vista ones and it said to get them from the manufacturer. Is there anyway I can force this? I know for a fact I have the X3100 (unless Sony blatantly lied about the specs), so I don't see the problem. Maybe this is typical with pre-manufactured stuff, this is the first PC I've owned that I didn't build myself.

I checked the Sony site under my model and it has the original GMA965 driver that it comes with, but they don't have the newly released version, which supposedly increases performance a good bit. I'd really like to try it out as any extra "oomph" in WoW would help.

You can manually update it via the Device Manager.

Go into the Device Manager and expand the Display Adapters by clicking the "+" sign. Right-click on your adapter (there should only be one) and click "Update Driver Software." Install the driver of your choice and do not let Windows search for it. Click "Have Disk" and go find those drivers you downloaded. Finish the installation by following the wizard.

I generally prefer downloading it from the original manufacturer's website, rather than that of the maker or vendor. In this case, that means going to www.intel.com and finding the drivers there. This is the best way of getting the most recent drivers.

Go into the add/remove programs and uninstall the video driver from there. Reboot, then install the drivers from Intel's site. BTW, apparently the latest Vista drivers for x3100 STILL don't support hardware shaders...

    Thanks, I'll try this.

That's what I did, but it said I needed to get them from the manufacturer. I don't want to use the old drivers from Sony, I'm trying to use the new ones from Intel.

The problem is that it doesn't show up. There is nothing labeled as an Intel driver, it's hidden in Sony's stuff somewhere. I know how to update drivers and stuff, but this is different because it was saying I had to use Sony's driver package. I'm trying to get around that.
