Anyone not have HL2 or EP1? I have extra copies of both and wanted to trade someone on steam for some new games. Don't really care what they are.

While many people do do this a lot...I don't think it's technically Legal per say...(especially when it comes to account trading)

Well I don't see how it can be illegal. I own both copies. And I'm not account trading, I just a have a couple extra copies I've had for more than a year and I don't have any RL friends that are gamers to gift to.

If you have them in boxed copies and you haven't registered them to an account on Steam, then it's perfectly fine. Otherwise, it's definitely not 100% legal I'm almost certain or at least against the EULA.

nah, I think he's fine doing that.... When I bought the Orange Box, it left me with an extra HL2 game that is now giftable, all I have to do is click who I want to give it to. All he's wanting to do is gift that to somebody and have them gift him something in return. Seems totally fine to me, as that's why they let us gift away our extra valve stuff.

If you have multiple copies of the same game registered on Steam, you can gift them to somebody else. AFAIK, you can't "trade", but you can gift games to other people. You can also gift games to them by way of buying the game for them from Steam (a purchase option).

Well if I gift first I'm not really out anything. I already own 1 copy of each so wouldn't really bother me. And as for the EULA saying they can ban me for trading a game, I really don't think they would go out of their way to do that. What kind of stink would it raise on the internet to punish a customer after they traded a game they purchased they can't use anyways. Would kinda tarnish their image if I was on every forum shouting to the heavens.
So... anyone want a trade or is everyone going to debate legal and moral issues?
