But only to those thousands of people it accidentally banned from CoD:MW2
Might be worth checking your Steam account if you have MW2 to see if you get a free game to gift/play
Story Here
Kudos to Valve for quickly admitting and fixing only a small temporary problem and then overcompensating their customers. A few other companies should learn from their example (*cough* Apple.)

Hahaha I love the title of that article... "Valve says sorry for banning everyone for no reason." They should give away copies of CoD 7.
-
Valve doesn't own CoD. They own L4D2, so they're able to give it away all they want.
-
I got so excited... I thought I was going to get another free game from steam...
-
^^^I know, me too. Darn it.
-
Yeah thanks for the disappointment!
-
-
If anyone gets L4D2 that they can gift, can you gift me?
I don't have any L4D series but I played it at my friends house and it was really fun
-
PFF, they should give a free game and refund people for MW2. The game was horrible on consoles nevermind how bad it is on PC

Once again, it's not Valve's game to refund. You'll have to convince Activision (and good luck with that).

Wow people just love to argue. I wasn't being half serious when I first said they should give out CoD 7, I thought it would be funny for them to ban someone from CoD 6 then give away CoD 7 to those people. But since you want to argue - no, I don't know if CoD 7 will have Steam protection on it. If I make a mistake, and I buy a gift basket or flowers and give it to the person who was hurt by my mistake, do I have to be the sole sponsor of that gift basket maker/flower shop? No. Does the gift basket maker/flower shop have to be my sole sponsor? No. So no, it would not be out of line for Valve to give those people something they "protect."
-
That's definitely true, but if they gave away the next Call of Duty, it would be money out of their own pocket, while L4D2 doesn't really cost them anything.
-
wait, so what would happen if you already owned l4d2? do you just get your money back, or will you be able to gift it twice?
-
If you already own left 4 dead 2 then you just get one copy to gift. If you don't own it you get one copy for yourself and one to gift.
Valve giving away free copies of L4D2...
