>.> I don't like the new look, its to industrialized looking compared to the old studio.
-
I agree, everything seems so out of place with the industrial look.

To be honest guys I haven't seen the video, only read comments on another website. My internet connection sucks and doesn't want to load the video right now.
$34.95 1.5Mbps DSL FTW! -
Does this mean now that they have a more comfy office they will get rid of Source and create a better engine and finish Episode 3?
-
What exactly is wrong with Source? I mean, it's the only unified engine I know of, and it works very well considering everything that it does.
-
Oh, the OP meant 'digs' as a new home. When I read the thread title I initially thought Valve was somehow going into partnership with Digg and I was saying to myself, "uh-oh!".
Hmm, I always thought Valve's opening logo splash screens and overall game aesthetics were industrialized. -
I don't think Gabe Newell wants to build a new engine, he was very much into iterating Source forever.
-
Video wont load well for me but sort of off topic, aren't they redesigning steam too?
-
I think Gabe has a knife fetish...
-
Thats fantastic news.....................now where the hell is Episode 3 ! -
The Source engine is great...it works well on very low-end systems while still looking good on high-end ones.
The new place looks way better! The old place looked old and moldy. The Googleplex and Pixar studious are still miles better (they also have wayyyy more money lol). -
Lovely. It is clear that Valve is experiencing some growth. Wonder when they will go public?
-
Honeslty, anybody who trashes source is an idiot. I hate to sound like a troll, but anybody who doesn't have a disposable income or mommy an daddy to buy them a top-of-the-line game rig should worship source.
When HL2 first came out, I ran the game on a 4 year old gateway (P4 1.6ghz, radeon mobiliity 7500, 512 gb Ram). Meanwhile, when unreal engine 3 debuted, the lead devs at Epic where bashing the GPU companies for not making more powerful integrated graphics to handall their engine -
And it ran well at that time? I also bought it at that time and my 4 year old computer couldn´t. It was a monster of engine (the source) back in 2004, and no, it was not designed for low-end systems. The reason it works well today is simply technology evolution, were are still using a 2004-based engine.

QFT. I was expecting the next news would be on Ep. 3, not the 9:00am morning show news.

After finally seeing the video I approve of their new home! Looks awesome!

It isn't really necessary for them to go public at this point. They don't need cash, which is a big factor. Not that they won't do it, but it doesn't really matter in my opinion.
