Sorry quite a novice here looking for some help, so i purchased a dell Quadro M2200 GPU, having trouble getting drivers to install etc. Loaded up GPU Z and noted Vbios is unknown. I haven't made any mods or anything myself, does this mean this card was flashed when I've bought it? see attached screenshot

Also is there any way this can be rectified easily or not worth the hassle for a novice..
    Appreciate any help in advance
    Thanks

What was it installed in, and do you have a picture of the card? I'm hoping it's not one of those cards that don't have a ROM chip.

It might be possible to figure out if there is one on the card or not using NVFlash.

I got the utility from TechpowerUp, and I ran it from a command prompt ias admin n Windows using this command "nvflash --display". When I did it first time on my problem card, it was all FF with basically nothing on the ROM chip.

It'll sound daunting but if you run that command and nothing else, you won't damage anything. All it'll do is just dump and show you the bytes of the chip.

    hi there

Im not sure what model but it was a dell, i can ask the seller. see photo of the card, i can take it out and take more photos if required.

when I press the look up button on gpuz it does link to the Quadro m2200 on techpowerup website, surely that means something?

I suppose I just need to establish if the card is bricked or not so i can go back and get a refund, or if its an action for me to resolve if that makes sense

I can see there is a ROM chip on it. However the lookup button only links you to what the card is but doesn't mean there's a VBIOS on it. It sounds like the VBIOS is blank.

What system have you installed it in?

Hi I have a Dell M4700, i think Techpowerup has 2 Vbios versions on site with differing dates.
Using Optimus so the Integral GPU is currently in use.

Alright so we should be OK trying the command out to check if there's anything on the M2200. Try the command, and see if it outputs anything. I've done "nvflash --display" on my Zbook here with an NVidia GPU and has given me some data, proving there is a VBIOS ROM flashed to it.

Hi just quick update , think I cracked it. Dawned on me when initially trying to install the drivers it was 32 but not 64...! So downloaded 64bit version and downloaded by the auto setup went smoothly and now working

That's really good to hear! I didn't think to ask about the drivers, though. Hope the M2200M does the job for you on your M4700!

Maxwell should also OC very well, if you can find a unlocked VBIOS.

(which makes me wish my P50's M2000M was unlocked so I could overclock the VRAM!)

I tried OC and can only change the base clock by 135 mhz, memory clock doesn't even budge. Bit odd because on my K1000m I could adjust both.

hmm is it possible mine is unlocked in that case? as you can see the difference, the only change was between the two profiles on afterburner; 135Mhz on core clock

Locked as in 135 MHz core overclock and no VRAM OCing.
