    vegas pro 8 stuck at initializing external monitoring. reinstalled several times, i am about to give up on this program.

    update - for some reason. the program loaded up earlyer today. i exed out. opened it back up, and it worked once more. but now, its back to the same issue.

    Did you have a look at the links I provided you?

    Other than that I have nothing else to suggest, if you really want to use the software try reinstalling Windows (back up your data first) or if not so much then look for an alternative to Sony Vegas.
